SIHH 2015: Panerai Luminor 1950 3 Days Chrono Flyback Automatic Ceramica (Updated with Live Photo and Price)
At SIHH 2015 this week, Panerai Panerai debuted the Luminor 1950 3 Days Chrono Flyback Automatic Ceramica – 44 mm. This new model surrounds the P.9100 manufacture chronograph movement with a high-tech matte-black case fashioned from synthetic ceramic based on zirconium oxide. The flyback function offered by the P.9100 caliber instantly zeroes the chronograph hands and restarts them with the push of a single button. This chronograph is unusual in that it uses only two hands, both centrally mounted. The blued hand counts the chronograph seconds, and the rhodium-plated hand tallies the chronograph minutes. The continuous seconds appear on the dial at 9 o'clock.The unusual chronograph uses two hands, both centrally mounted, and no subdials.To maintain the integrity of Panerai's trademark lever-based crown protection device, the chronograph pushers are located on the 9 o'clock side of the case. Genesis: German Men's Watches By A Woman
Genesis is not just a neat-sounding word that someone thought would make for a good watch brand name. It is rather the name of the brand's founder and designer - Christine Genesis. How convenient is that? To have a cool last name like that? Christine is a rare breed being a full-on watch maker and a female. I wouldn't make a big deal of that fact if it was more common. I, for one, applaud the idea of having more female headliners in the watch industry. Christine's brand begins with some attractive watches that combine a little of classic traditionalism, Bauhaus, and modern minimalism. I don't like all the pieces, but I think overall this a nice brand worth paying attention to.About 3-4 years old now, Genesis has roughly eight models in the collection - each coming in a few styles. I've posted images of my favorite pieces. Genesis uses Swiss mechanical movements which look to be a mix of ETA and Soprod calibres. Most are automatics but there are a few manually wound varieties. How often do you wear your Rolex?
I'm a watch addict. I'm also a perfectionist. Scratches and dings bug me. It is impossible not to bump your wrist during our busy lifestyles. So I keep my favorite Rolex tucked away for special occasions. When I put it on it is always perfect. No scratches or dings. Fortunately I have a fair number of special occasions so it gets used monthly. I own a number of other (non-Rolex) watches that I alternate and maintain at the local watchmaker. He loves my business because I keep the other watches polished and replace crystals as needed. Taking three watches in tomorrow for the usual repairs. My last two Rolex watches went to the AD for service multiple times for scratches before I sold them and purchased a new gold 116233. Am I alone or are there others that feel the same way?Thanks!
