Maurice Lacroix Pontos S Supercharged Watch
Is the "big watch" going to make a comeback for 2014? That is hard to say, but Swiss Maurice Lacroix has an XXL-sized horological entrant with their 48mm wide sized Pontos S Supercharged. It continues the Pontos S legacy that began in 2012, and last year in 2013 resulted in the Pontos S Extreme (hands-on here). The Extreme had some interesting colors and now the Supercharged is all about bold design and size.We've always liked the Pontos S for its forward-thinking design and sharp modern looks while conforming to traditional standards of legibility and functionality. And don't forget that cool crown for the inner rotating bezel that is connected to the chronograph start/stop pusher. All of that is retained in the Pontos S Supercharged, but with some design updates and a different movement. While the standard Pontos S chronograph made use of a Swiss ETA Valjoux 7750, the Pontos S Supercharged will make use of the still very uncommon Valgranges caliber. New 5167A owner and new to the forum
I've been reading this forum for a while now and I'm finally excited to post now as a new 5167A owner. I just picked this up on order from my local AD. It came in fresh from Patek. As an introduction, I bought my first watch this year an IWC 3714 Portuguese. I thought that would be my first foray into watches and my last purchase for a while. But the bug has really hit me after reading these forums. I was in the hunt for a waterproof watch as I travel quite often. In April I stopped by an IWC boutique in LA and came across the Charles Darwin AT in bronze. I quickly called my AD and sourced one before my next trip. After 2 watches in 3 months I established a relationship with one of the reps at my AD. I asked her about a Lange I read about on Hodinkee that looked interesting. Strap recommendations for Calatrava 5127G-001
I have a white gold 5127 on a black strap that the dealer sent for free (because original was a little long).Unfortunately, the strap seems to have lost its shine and I would like something a little nicer.Do you guys have a recommendation on what kind of straps might look good on this watch and perhaps nice third party strap makers?
