Romain Jerome and CEO Yvan Arpa Part Ways
Romain Jerome has announced that it has parted ways with CEO Yvan Arpa. Also leaving the company are the head of administration, the sales director and two other staff members. No reason was given for the departures. Romain Jerome’s press release states that “…the change of management in no way jeopardizes the ongoing success of the company, which continues to enjoy excellent sales, promising order volumes and an extremely strong brand image.” Romain Jerome was founded in 2004 and Yvan Arpa joined the firm in 2006. During his tenure, Arpa created a series of eyebrow-raising timepieces including one made from pieces of the Titanic, another priced at $300,000 that did not tell the time, and for 2009 one called “The Truth About Roswell” that incorporates moon dust into the dial (pictured below). The company assures us that deliveries of the Moon Dust-DNA collection will take place according to the planned schedule.
Watch Case Materials Explained: Titanium
Please welcome Mr. ?lker ?zcan who will collaborate with aBlogtoReadwatches-dealer on a few articles discussing materials and processes used in watch cases and other components. Ozcan is a professional Materials Engineer and owns a small R&D company (ndsgnwatches-dealer) - and he loves mechanical watches and loves the exotic materials used in those watches. The purpose of this article series is to enlighten watch lovers about many aspects of watch materials so that everyone can make more educated decisions about the watches they are buying. For me, titanium is the best overall engineering metal ever! Is it however the best material for a watch case? Let's take a look...We engineers measure many properties to evaluate materials. Probably more types of properties than you have heard of if you are not a materials e

Depreciation on PM Watches
Debating making my first PM purchase and depreciation worries me. There are tons of different consumers out there - personally, I've bought some SS watches new from ADs that I knew were going to decently retain value, but now looking at PM pieces, I've been looking to buy used to save the hit. I've been able to find a 116655 for $16k and a 116719 for $20k. I understand buy bc you enjoy but I feel more comfortable buying something knowing if I want out in a few years, I won't take a bath. Each model I'm considering was selling for a lot more just 12-24 months ago and I'm worried if I buy a WG Pepsi for $20k, I won't be able to recoup more than $13-$14k in 3-5 years. Can someone with a lot of PM experience speak to depreciation on gold model Rolexes?
