Another Suggestion for Those Seeking Grails
Last year I was searching for a nice 5402 1st series RO. I found a few, but they were over-polished and generally not in great shape. So, I stumbled across a Ref. 14802, which was a 1992 limited edition Jumbo RO (1,000 steel, not sure how many platinum) to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the RO.It was an almost new condition and the dial is slightly different than the 15202. Also, the engraving on the rotor memorializes the Jubilee anniversary of the RO.All in all, it's a lovely watch, sets itself apart from the 15202, and assuming you can find one, is more affordable than a 5402 in comparable condition.I will let the photos do the talking:
Nothing hollow here...
I'm in a heated discussion on another forum and would like an answer from true experts. Are they solid or hollow. If it depends on model, then let's go with majority. Thanks!
Breitling Navitimer / Rolex Submariner
A quick question for my fellow TRF'ers...A friend of mine has been bitten by watch fever after seeing and trying on my GMT-II and is looking at picking up a Breitling. He likes the larger case size, face color and recognizable Breitling dial. When he mentioned Breitling I immediately thought of one watch only, and that was the Navitimer, blue face. I then made a comment to him that the Navitimer was basically the Submariner of Breitling meaning that it was the one watch that in my opinion captured the spirit, history and essence of Breitling, the same way that I feel the Sub is the quintessencial Rolex. What do you all think? Is that consistent with what you think or am I WAY off base? Whenever I think Breitling, Navitimer just pops into my head. I'm anxious to hear what you have to say. In case you're unfamiliar with the Navitimer, I've attached a picture...
