Peter Speake-Marin: The New Thalassa
It is rare for one man to design every component of a watch's case, dial and movement. Peter Speake-Marin’s new Thalassa is such a watch. The harmonious design incorporates Peter's trademark elements, and so is instantly recognizable as his. The blued\steel of the outer dial, hands and seconds wheel create a nautical ambiance which inspired the name Thalassa , a sea goddess from Greek mythology and the personification of the Mediterranean Sea. The case is Peter's iconic Piccadilly design, rendered in 18K white gold. The basic shape was inspired by the cases used to house prototype movements Peter worked with early in his career. The name Piccadilly honors the formative years Peter spent working in restoration at Somlo Antiques in Piccadilly, London. The lugs assure a solid connection to the case, with a screwed solid stainless steel bar attaching the strap to the lugs. You may enlarge the images with a click.Inside resides the star of the show, Peter's calibre SM2m manual\win
Decisions on PP 5146 or AP 26470
I am deciding on either a Patek 5146 or AP 26470, though they are 2 different types of watch I can only get one right now. Which would you choose and why? The patek probably would hold value better vs. the AP , one is a dress watch the other casual but I think they both can be worn either way. Also do you think the newer version of the AP novelty is worth the extra money over the old version ? Other than the see thru caseback and ceramic pushers is their any other notable diffrences that make it more worth more buying over the older version ?

AP Bands hard to make?
I have been told by a couple people who make bands for other company's watches that they do not put effort into making bands for AP because they are more of a challenge to make with the unique strap setup. But honestly, looking at it...I may be nieve, it looks like almost a regular strap then you punch out to marks where the metal adapter that's unique to ap would go? Not too hardDoes anyone think the lack of 3rd party straps is really due to the fact that it may be challenging to make (although I don't think it would be that more challenging than normal) or do you think it's more so just due to the demand (lack there of) and the size of the market based off the number of watches produced vs say Panerai?Just pondering.....
Rolex 116610LV, need advice (UK)
Hi, I have been having some bother of late trying to purchase a Rolex 116610LV from AD's in the UK. I wanted to be added to a genuine waiting list for my next watch, but so far I have been kicked off of one (Fraser Hart, Stratford), and goldsmiths had a breakdown in communication between themselves and my nearest dealer (Watford), resulting in, yes you guessed it a few months later being told I'm not on the waiting list, which is now closed and no further customers being allowed to be added (Watford) . So now I'm wondering, is this common throughout the UK with AD's not opening their waiting list for this particular model? Is there someone that can point me in the right direction, as I did want to purchase through an AD and have the experience of buying new, but if it's not going to happen, i would rather just know now, as I've already been given the run around, which is sad as this was meant to be a positive experience. I didn't have this with my Daytona, which was used and wasn't thro
