Ceramic bezel vs glass desk...
...and bezel won!Felt my watch nick the edge of my desk, not hard at all.Saw this, about 3 mm long, and a corresponding small glass chip on my chair. No marks of any type on the bezel. Tough ceramic!
PP 5168G vs. AP 44 CE ROO
I know these are 2 different watches, but given the somewhat similar price points, roughly $34K on the AP vs. $38K on the PP, which would you go for?I guess I'm looking for a piece with rubber strap to get ready for warmer weather and casual wear on weekends.I have tried on the AP 26405 CE 44 Chrono recently and it was pretty sweet in the flesh. I am first on the list for the 5168G at my AD with no firm commitment to purchse yet since I need to see how the 42mm size fits.I'll be posting this on the AP forum as well to get a fair assessment.
Help identify a nautilus
Hello, today i was shopping and stopped at an watch store and they are an AD for patek and other brands, anyways they had a preowned SS date nautilus and they referred to it as vintage...Sorry i didnt take any pics as i didnt feel comfortable doing that. I just need help figuring out what reference it could be. I didnt think to ask them and to be honest i dont know if they would know anyways. Here is my issue, i do not know if it is a 3800 or a 5800/1a. Here is why, it does not have a clear case back (so not a 5800/1a) but it did not have the old school folding clasp of the 3800. So what could it be?It had a solid caseback of a 3800 and the clasp was the hidden style/deployment of the 5800 1a. Pics attached... I should also point out it was not a 42mm, it was either 36 or 38mmThis place is an AD of patek so i am not worried it is a fake and they said it was sent to patek for a service.Any idea what reference it could be? I attached pictures of what i am talking about (generic pics from
30th B'Day watch for my wife!!!
With my wife's 30th coming up ive been wanting to get her a nice watch. She is pretty excited with this Idea. We've visited a few AD's recently but none of them have the dial combos we want.So read between the lines with the color choices as all will be minimalist steel with silver dials. Choice one will be a Tudor style in 34 mm with silver dial & and fluted bezel.Choice two will be a Oyster perpetual in either 31mm or 34 mm in silver dial and silver sticks in the 34mm or in the 31mm it will be silver dial with pink sticks as that the only option in the 31mm.Few pics attached for wrist size. Thanks for your input.
Spring bar pins replacement question
How frequently do you recommend replacing the spring bar pins on the metal bands?I usually wear my watch everywhere I go to include ocean waters. Not sure if the salt water breaks down the spring faster.
