My First Grail Watch: Fiona Krger
Welcome back to an original watches-dealer feature, "My First Grail Watch." In this series, we ask prominent people in the watch industry about the first timepiece that they lusted after. Today, we're speaking with Fiona?Krger, one of the newer independent watch designers to have caught our eye with her creations. ?She tells us about her First Grail Watch, which is the oldest Grail Watch we've featured.watches-dealer (ABTW): ?Who are you, and what is your relationship to the watch industry?Fiona Krger (FK): ?My name is Fiona Krger, and I am a young independent Scottish watch designer and producer working in Switzerland. I design and produce my own "Swiss Made" timepieces as well as collaborating with brands looking for a more emotional and unique take on watch design. I'm best known for my skull watches, which are produced in limited series.ABTW: ?When did your fascination with watches start?FK: ?When I came to Switzerland to do my Masters. One of the sponsors of the course at that
Angular Momentum Dive-Tec/500 Watch
Angular Momentum is about to release a sensational dive watch the likes of which I've never seen before. Most of Angular Momentum's design are polarizing, so I don't expect each of your to like this watch, but enough of you will appreciate the interesting concepts that went into it. Like the Pita Barcelona Oceana watch, this is a uniquely artistic rendition of a dive watch that is art, but also heavily focuses on diving utility. So just because it doesn't look like all the Rolex Submariner clones out there (and Rolex Submariners themselves), does not mean this is not a admirable diving tool. So lets jump right into discussing this new Dive-Tec/500 watch. The 46mm wide case (by 17mm thick) is done in Staybrite 1.4435 NCu steel that is higher quality than 316L stainless steel used on most steel watches. Rolex Sea Dweller watches watches (especially the Deep Sea) use Staybrite steel as well. It might be the same formulation. Why is it over 316L? Because this type of steel has a special res
AP Royal Concept GMT vs Richard Mille 011-02
At this moment these two might be a little bit out of reach but it is something i can start saving for during the 1st half of 2018. Until recently, I was not a big fan of RM but they have grown on me. I have always liked AP and own 3-- the ROO chrono, 15407 and RO Chromo-Pride of Italy. i do not own a tourbillon and the AP tourbillons have turned me on for some time. I am just starting to ponder perhaps a future purchase. I would even consider trading in my ROO chrono as I do not wear that one as often as the others. In terms of RM === there are a lot to choose from and I mention the RM011-02 as one I am attracted to. I prefer titanium to ceramic in both the AP and RM models I would consider. Appreciate any comments.
Been too long since my last ... INCOMING!!!!
I was thinking Daytona as my next acquisition but haven't even been able to see / try on a Daytona in the flesh, let alone purchase at MSRP.... But I did have the (surprise) opportunity to grab something else I liked, at retail, that I didn't think I'd be able to get either..... Whaddya think is in the Jersey Rock's Box?
