JS Watch Frisland 1941 Aviator
Icelandic watchmaker JS Watch has just announced a beautiful new aviator called the Frisland 1941. Part of the Frisland collection, the 1941 is a classic looking Pilot watch with a little bit of JS Watch flair to it. The watch has a retro World War II look to it in honor of the Reykjavik airport that opened in 1941 during World War II. It was built by the British in Iceland and in 1946 was handed over to Iceland's sovereign government to run on their own. Apparently the area did serve as an airstrip before the formal airport was built, but that is enough history to justify the production of this watch collection. As a pilot watch, the Frisland 1941 is very humble in stature being 42mm wide. We know that pilot watch sizes can get very large, but that is inline with the heritage of the genre. Pilot watches that are too small just don't look right in our opinion. At 42mm, we feel that the Frisland 1941 strikes a good balance between "daily wear size" and being "aviator sporty." The good ne
Hublot Reaches Way, Way Back, Builds Antikythera Device For The Wrist
This week, Hublot revealed the movement that will power their much anticipated Antikythera watch, Caliber 2033-CH01. You're probably pretty familiar with Hublot, but this Antikythera device is another story that begins in the 1st Century with a ship wreck off the coast of Crete. What's an Antikythera device? That's a question no one has been able to answer accurately until the 21st century.?The Antikythera mechanism was first discovered in 1901, but remained largely misunderstood due to the technical limitations of those tasked with researching the find. It wasn't until relatively recently that scientists began to grasp the true complexity of the device. State of the art X-rays revealed a plethora of internal gear trains hidden within, along with Greek text on the outer case that is believed to be an instruction manual. Hublot likens the machine to a cosmograph, in that it describes the movement in the cosmos. However, the cycles that the ancient Greeks sought to measure are quite diff

Pam 1312 vs 312 size & color dilemma...
Hey guys,I am new to the forum and new to panerai. Looking to make my first panerai watch purchase and I need some help...I have been doing research online (exhaustively), and have visited my local AD for the in person experience. I initially went in with heart set on the 312. I tried both the 312 and 1312 and I preferred the overall aesthetic and cleaner look of the 312 dial, but much preferred the thinner fit of the 1312... but I was just not sure of the ecru color, blue second hand and automatic written on dial... although it isn't that obstrusive in person, it still has me thinkingWhy couldn't they just make the 312 exactly the same (or even with the ommision of the date and the 9) with the new 1312 case size?? Is there another model that can satisfy those criteria?I keep thinking I'll just get the bigger 312 case, then I read countless articles of owners that say it's hard to live with height and too heavy case on daily basis. Perhaps I'll learn to love the blue second hand and fa
