Watches NEWS
How Screwed Is Watch Industry Thanks To Apple Watch?
During the launch of the Apple Watch, myself and thousands of other bloggers tried to take in the information, while at the same time covering the news, given our own perspectives on the watch or technology industry. Apple even asked a lot of fashion bloggers to attend the Apple Watch launch, which was a curious thing, until you realized that there were about 34 different versions of the Apple Watch, to begin with, that will be available when the smartwatches begin shipping sometime in early 2015. Most notably, a range of versions in full 18k gold or rose gold cases. While Apple has not released a lot of the technical specifications about the Apple Watch, there is enough information available for myself and many other people to have a good idea of what the Apple Watch will do, how it might fit into people's lives, and how it fits next to the competition. The question today is whether or not that competition is limited to other wearables and smartwatches, or to other more traditional wat
AP ROO in 'The Mechanic'
In the 2011 flick, 'The Mechanic', starring Jason Statham, the opening sequence features a Gold ROO Chronograph with a black strap. It's a really nice watch but a little too BLING for me. However, given that this short lived character is a Colombian Drug Lord (with good taste), it somehow suits him.
Back in Black (Alligator Straps on 16518)
Since I have lost some weight (actually my AD convinced me to try his diet with him, it worked pretty well lost about 40 pounds from 200 to 155) my wrist got a bit smaller. I decided to switch back to my regular size black alligator strap for my 16518. At first I was terrified to change straps on my daytona, and the first few switches did not go smoothly. I just switched back to my black alligator without much drama and the watch looks completely different.
This one or THAT one?
In checking prices of both brand new and used Date/No Date SubC models, it would appear that one could buy a brand new 114060 for the price of a lightly used (several years old) 116610 give or take.Given the choice of new vs used date/no date, which would you choose? Personally, I like both models and having no date is not a deal breaker for me. I do like the idea of buying brand new as well. (full disclosure) If both were brand new and priced the same I would select date. I am considering trading a 16613 TT blue towards the purchase of a 114060 or 116610. I am a one Rolex owner and that is likely to stay that way for the next few years anyway. Thanks in advance for opinions.
Just picked up a Tudor
Well, I got a new watch itch to scratch and this is one is far less painful on the wallet compare to say.. PP5522A. Overall, it's a lot of watch for the price. And it boast probably the most readable dial in my entire collection due to the snowflake white hands and white indices against a pitch black dial. And the construction says quality despite the modest ( relatively ) price tag. Love the detailing on the deployant clasp and the sturdy brown strap with innner rubber lining. My last Tudor was a Pelagos which unfortunately didn't last very long. But I think this one just might. Have a good week ahead.
