Audemars Piguet Millenary Chronograph Watch At SIHH 2009
You know that I have been economically deluded by the watch world when I hear that a watch costs around $35,000, only to think, "that sounds like a really good price." Not that I can afford it, I just wouldn't expect an 18k rose gold-cased Audemars Piguet watch with an in house chronograph movement to go for that "low" of a price. I must have luxo-fever. But for $35,000 you can't go too wrong with this beautiful chronograph version of Audemars Piguet's lovely Millenary watch. The sorta asymmetric is not off-centered as it might appear. Two oblong circles overlap to create that interesting look that Audemars Piguet perfected. Though, the chronograph version does actually have some off-centered dials. The standard Millenary watch uses the two circles for the minute or the hours. This version uses the outer circle cleverly as a tachymeter. It is not the most elegant application of a tachymeter scale, but it works. The dial has everything in the right place, though it does come across as th
Buy.com Marketplace Watches Are Now An Additional 20% Off: Some Very Good Deals Here
All Buywatches-dealer market place watches are now an additional 20% off. When you visit this Buywatches-dealer link look for the watches which are priced in red. These watches are being offering from Buywatches-dealer, not its partnered vendors. The prices in red reflect this special watch sale, which I have found some very good deals. I have purchased from Buywatches-dealer before with good results.Check out the site for the most up to date details on the sale, as I am sure they are to change from time to time. It is supposed to end soon, but there is no specific time the Buywatches-dealer watch sale is supposed to cease. Most likely their watch selection will remain on limited sale for the next 2 weeks or so while so many are vying for consumer attention during the gift giving season. This is a perfect time to see what watches you can find there are going to make good gifts. I have always been impressed with the number of diverse watch brands Buywatches-dealer provides. Some notable
Omega Lume Questions...
I have a couple of questions regarding Omega lume. The lume on my old Seamaster and PO 2500 was of course, green and absolutely superb. The lume on my new Seamaster Ceramic and PO 8500 is blue, with green on the minute hands and lume pips and IMHO, isn't nearly as good as the old green lume.Question one: Why did Omega make this change? I know Rolex is using blue lume on some of their models now, too. Was it to try and keep up with them, or is there some reason blue lume would be better? It just isn't as bright.Question two: I read on a different Omega forum that Omega was using Seiko lume (Lumibrite?) This makes no sense. Lumibrite is Seiko's proprietary lume. I thought Omega would/does use Super Luminova. Please clarify. For comparison sake, below are lume pics of my old PO 2500 followed by my new PO 8500.TIA,-MarcPO 2500PO 8500
Tried on a few Patek Philppe Watches today.
Hi Guys,I tried on a few Patek Philppe watches when I was at the AD today. Wow they make a fine watch. It was not busy at all so the sales person was able to let me handle a 5101P 10 Day Tourbillon it was a bit out of my price range at 380K (CAD).I like the 5119 Calatrave model. It was going for only 18K. How much does this model sell for in the USA? Same price or much cheeper?Maybe someday for now I will stick with Rolex.Take Care,Eric
