Bremont HMS Victory Limited Edition Watch
Not too much information right now but this is the upcoming limited edition Bremont HMS Victory limited edition watch. The classic looking chronograph will be produced in honor of the historic HMS Victory ship. The HMS Victory was originally built in the 18th century and is the oldest surviving warship from that era. The limited edition watch is said to contain actual original material from the ship itself. The watch is part of a relationship between UK-based watch brand Bremont and The National Museum of the Royal Navy in Portsmouth, England. The final piece will be unveiled in July 2012 during an event aboard the ship. This is the second Bremont limited edition watch to contain parts from an historic military machine. They did this first in the Mustang P-51 timepiece covered here. There are very few tech specs on the actual watch itself, and we don't know exactly where the "original HMS Victory material" will go. It could very well be on the rotor of the automatic movement. I am guessi
Ochs und Junior Watches Interview With Beat Weinmann
On Jan 27th, I had the pleasure of talking to Beat Weinmann of ochs und junior, as a follow-up to my review of the selene tinta. Allow me to thank Mr. Weinmann for his time.PH: One of the things that came up in the comments on my review is the cost of ochs und jr compared to other Swiss brands. Briefly put, why so much for an unpolished titanium case and basic ebauche?BW: There are several reasons for the costs, mainly due to nonstandard cases and limited production runs. Most case makers have minimum order quantities of 500 or more, which is more than the entire annual production for ochs und junior. We wanted a 2-part, unpolished case with no movement ring, and no manufacturer could make that for us. Having them made by Peter Cantieni allows top quality and small quantities, but of course the per-unit cost is much higher. It also allows much faster turnaround on new ideas and parts, and we felt it was important to work outside of the industry. Our watch cases are somehow like raw conc
Anyone have a side x side x side pic of a Blue 15300, 15202 and 15400?
Would selfishly like to see the three shades of blue - in one pic - if possible :-)Surely someone has this ultimate comparison shot?I know lighting makes a big difference...I suppose a photo with all models would be the best way - apart from seeing the watches in the metal at the same time.Cheers
Breitling Transocean Chronograph question
Anyone have any thoughts on the Transocean Chronograph in 18kt red gold? My AD got one shipped to them and they are looking to unload it at a 30% discount.... I am considering it, but not 100% sure....
How does your AD deal with issues?
So I purchased a second watch recently from an AD, and it wasn't to my expectations (crown appeared not to always engage position 2 or 3, date seemed to change at 2am intermittently). If you purchased a new watch and it had issues from new, would you expect your AD to replace or refund, or offer a repair in the first couple of days of ownership?1. Would you expect a replacement if available2. Would you expect a refund3. Would you be happy with a repair
