Cartier Sues Online “Flash” Retailer HauteLook Over Watch Sales
Cartier has sued HauteLook, Inc. in federal court in Manhattan alleging the Los Angeles-based retailer falsely claims to offer new Cartier goods at deep discounts based on a special relationship with the brand. Cartier’s complaint states that it has no relationship with HauteLook, and that the retailer is selling secondhand Cartier watches and other goods as new. The complaint, filed August 3, states that the Hautelook website contains the claim “no secondhand merchandise, ever.” Cartier says that through its agents, it purchased 5 Cartier watches from HauteLook, and after reviewing the timepieces and information based on serial numbers, Cartier concluded that all 5 watches were “used and therefore secondhand.”Cartier claims the watches also showed scratches and evidence of poor polishing and improper repair. One watch was delivered in a damaged Baume & Mercier box, and on certain Certificates of Authenticity included with Cartier products, the authori

I'm Back, and Incoming!!!
I posted a thread a few weeks back how I finally traded my Daytona for a RO. I had the watch shipped to Santa Fe, where I was getting married, so I didn't have it when I made the thread.I then didn't want to take it on my honeymoon because I didn't want to deal with sand and sunscreen on it. So I FINALLY will have it on my wrist for more than 4 days, and had the opportunity to take some pics after being gone for the past 2 weeks.Big thanks to all of you enablers on here! The wrist shot, I love how this wraps around my wrist perfectly! uploadfromtaptalk1437343633444.jpguploadfromtaptalk1437343685632.jpgI could stare at it for hours - and that's before I even take a look at that sweet backside.uploadfromtaptalk1437343708695.jpgWhere I was 2 weeks back for the wedding. uploadfromtaptalk1437343803772.jpgAll last week.uploadfromtaptalk1437343854597.jpgSent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
Vintage Speedmaster service: is this a dilemma?
I own mostly Rolex, thus my joining this forum, but I also love the Speedy and have two of them, one modern, one vintage. The vintage piece is a 145.012-67. I bought it with no known service history. It's in fairly good shape except the hour totalizer is not resetting to zero and running about 25 sec fast per day avg - faster when its worn, not quite as fast when face up off the wrist. Had it for a year now and thought I'd better think about getting it serviced.Upon contacting a recommended watchmaker / service center - now independent, but formerly omega authorized - I was told the following:1. pushers and crown must be replaced (standard)2. crystal must be replaced (standard to restore water resistance gaskets too)3. If there is a lot of mildew or degrading tritium on the dials, the dial should be replaced. #3, the dial, appears to be a deal breaker doesn't it? But the service center says if flakes or dust from degrading tritium markers get into the movement, that is a problem.Wha
Buying Omega from GM...
I love the Omega Aqua Terra but the $$ at an AD is 2800 plus taxes. Alanfurman price is around 1,800 no taxes. I would not buy a Rolex from an AD. I bought my SM from Tournau but for being a Rolex itself it justify peace of mind. Can I buy confident the I am receiving an genuine non altered (serial # removed) from Alanfurman???Seems to be a really good company to do business with..
