Jaquet Droz In Museum Exhibition
The Museum of Arts and Design unveiled Object Factory: The Art of Industrial Ceramics, an exhibition documenting contemporary innovation in industrial ceramic production and the renaissance of ceramics in art and design. On view from May 6 through September 13, 2009, Object Factory examines unexpected uses of ceramics as time keeping instruments, kitchen appliances, knives and even digital electronics, all made possible by new technologies. The Grande Seconde Ceramique, which combines a ceramic case with an enamel dial, is the only timepiece in the exhibition. The limitless potential of ceramicsa medium that has been in use for millenniais underscored by its use in such innovative ways as the housing of watches like the Grande Second Ceramique created by the renowned Jaquet Droz Manufacture. We are happy to have this fine timepiece included in Object Factory: The Art of Industrial Ceramics, said David McFadden, the Museum of Arts and Design's Chief Curator. The Museum of Arts and De

5164 and 5712 owners please give your thoughts
Okay, so I have another incoming in a different section. It's gonna be gooooood. But that won't be in mid December. In the mean time as I look to replacing my 5711 I'm considering a 5164 or a 5712. Those who know my previous dilemma about the 5712 may know what's coming in December hehe. But this choice is very hard indeed. Don't go telling me to keep the 5711 cause it's already gone after 3 weeks and no love (I would rather where my RO anniversary in I'm going for the clean blue dial, blue the RO's blue datewheel gets me)Anywho, any owners of either chime in. Thanks! I'm no where near making up my mind. For me, I love the 5712's asymmetry and the moon disc is sweet. But the 5164 has a more practical movement and I actually like the deployant and rubber strap on the 5164...at first I didn't but it's comfy. Anywho enough now your thoughts!!!
Followilng NigelUKs lead... New to Me!
Hello Forum Members! Just bought my very first Panerai (PAM00512) and received delivery this past Tuesday. Absolutely in love with the watch for all the reasons Nigel UK has written in his posts. I've included a few pictures below.Being new to Panerai, I was wondering if forum members could help me out with answers a few questions...1) I have the original box, manuals, hang tags, and warrantee form with the watch which was purchased in January 2016 here in the US. What I find curious is that the watch is a early Q series example (<100 out of 2000) and has a rubber strap and deployment buckle. Does anyone know if the rubber strap is the original that came with the 512? I looked on the Panerai site and they do not sell this strap for the 1940 Radimir nor have I seen any pcitures I have seen so far. 2) Another curious item is the deployment buckle. Per the serial number and the Panerai labeling, it looks like a factory item to me. Has anyone seen this deployment buckle before?
