Swatch Group Founder Nicolas Hayek Dies: Ends Era Of Watch Making Rebirth
A sad day yesterday (June 28, 2010) in the watch world. The most notable figure in the world of Swiss watches died. Nicolas Hayek died suddenly while he was in his office at work of heart failure. He was 82 years old, and worked diligently until his last moments - doing what he loved. We should all be so lucky. He saved the Swiss watch industry in the 1980s, and carried it through to today. His legacy is massive, and his current work was to further protect and devise ways to invigorate his beloved industry. A genius, no person can fill his shoes. No one can further his work in the same way. He was the father of the modern horology scene as we know it. Only time will tell how things will proceed without his guidance and learned (though often unorthodox) views and methods.Read more in my notice on Nicolas Hayek's passing here on Luxistwatches-dealer.

Can anyone share a pic of a 15400 and a Diver bracelet side by side
49.2 mm
XXL anyone? This is one massive watch
Rolex, more than just time. Obviously.
What are we really paying for?(Apologies, if this is an 'old chestnut' of a post).But. I was wondering how many of us here, actually use the added functions of our Rolexes? From the Submariner and it's various depth ratings to the Sea Dweller & DeepSea's incredible specifications. (I have read that only 2% of wearers of 'Divers Watches' can actually swim). How many of us, wearing a Yachtmaster, GMT, Daytona, Milgaus ,et al, make use of their full capabilities?I have travelled across various time zones and found it easier to change the position of the hands on my GMT, rather than figure out the correct, relevant position of the bezel etc. So. What ARE we paying for, beyond a reliable, sturdy movement in a nice, tight case? Are all those extra, albeit, beautifuly designed and sculpted features just a personal fashion/style statement? I suppose I've just answered my own question! There will be many amongst us on this BRILLIANT, helpfull, knowledgeable and friendly forum that, sail yachts,
GMT misaligned hour hand.
Hey folks,Bought a used 116710LN a few months back in early August. Hasn't left my wrist since. It's my first Rolex and I absolutely love the damn thing. Unfortunately a little while ago I noticed that the hour hand drags behind by about 20mins. That is to say, the hour hand won't be pointing directly at the hour marker until the minute hand reaches the 4 o'clock position (ie 20min past the hour).I thought I could live with it for a while but with such a substantial misalignment it makes it difficult to accurately read the time at a glance. I emailed the dealer with no response and will probably head in later today to speak with him. My question is has anyone eelse experiences this before, what may cause this and whether you think it's the dealer's or my responsibility to fix? Thanks everyone. You're all legends.R.
