Seiko Izul, The Coolest Watch You've Never Heard Of (And Can't Get)
I write this as I am here in Japan spending time with Seiko (though I will post it after my return to the States). So much to talk about, I don't even know where to begin. Well this article is about the Seiko Izul. A watch that I learned about today that I should have heard about a long time ago. This is a damn cool watch. So I was at Seiko's headquarters today and one of the people we met was the nice gentleman who designed the dial of the Seiko Spring Drive Spacewalk, a watch many of you are deeply desiring. The good news is that the Spacewalk will be released as a 100 piece limited edition set. The bad news is that it will be $28,000. I digress. Everyone at Seiko was wearing an awesome Seiko watch that I'd not seen before, and he was wearing something that I'd never even seen images of. Over the last few years, Cartier's Fine Watchmaking department has been consistently pushing out some of the most creative and technically impressive haute horology around. Just a few weeks ago we showed you the new Astrocalendaire and today we've got another stunner for you. The Rotonde de Cartier Earth and Moon uses its tourbillon and a moving Lapis Lazuli disc to display the phase of the moon on demand and there is a second timezone display as well. The Earth and Moon is as much a mechanical sculpture as it is a timekeeper and here we've got all the details.The Earth and Moon is not a subtle watch – far from it. The platinum case comes in at 47mm across and 16.65mm thick, with robust arching lugs. The dial is bright blue lapis lazuli with a white gold Roman numeral grid over the top that also features a map of the earth at the center. Things to look out for on safe queens...
So in my journey to find my grail (rb2ti), I've gotten a crash course in shady sellers and sketchy ebay postings. I want to say 911Cab and Aviv has been very helpful in guiding me through the noise. I've seen a lot of mint & great condition ones but very very few NIBs.One thing I didn't think through was whether or not a safe queen is preferred over one that's been worn and in rotation. Are safe queens similar to exotic cars where if you don't take it for a spin occasionally, it's detrimental to the watch? Edwin

I am humbled to be the new owner of this gorgeous timepiece...words cannot express how blessed and thankful I am!I absolutely love it on the strap and I can certainly see a Speedy bracelet purchase, in the near future, to switch things up a bit.
