Holiday Secret Santa Anti- Gift Guide 2014 Watch Gifting
Looking for a last-minute gift guide to help you choose a watch for a friend or loved one? Then keep on walkin', 'cause this ain't that. There are watches and "gifts" in this article, but this isn't a "gift guide" where we just show you some watch stars from this year, and tell you what we think you should buy. We feel that's not actually entirely realistic and rarely helpful in real life. Instead, we decided it might be fun to do a "Fantasy" Secret Santa this year, with all our team members, and do a real-life, real-watches (meaning relatively accessible), real people (with fantasy money), watch "gifting" exchange, and see what happens. Our hope is to provide anecdotal insight into the thought process, some wisdom about watches (and gifting), and perhaps some entertainment. We've all been there. We want to share with a loved one the same joy we experience for a watch we love. We want that person to feel that good about something that we also love and then share that feeling with them a
Ochs und Junior Watches Interview With Beat Weinmann
On Jan 27th, I had the pleasure of talking to Beat Weinmann of ochs und junior, as a follow-up to my review of the selene tinta. Allow me to thank Mr. Weinmann for his time.PH: One of the things that came up in the comments on my review is the cost of ochs und jr compared to other Swiss brands. Briefly put, why so much for an unpolished titanium case and basic ebauche?BW: There are several reasons for the costs, mainly due to nonstandard cases and limited production runs. Most case makers have minimum order quantities of 500 or more, which is more than the entire annual production for ochs und junior. We wanted a 2-part, unpolished case with no movement ring, and no manufacturer could make that for us. Having them made by Peter Cantieni allows top quality and small quantities, but of course the per-unit cost is much higher. It also allows much faster turnaround on new ideas and parts, and we felt it was important to work outside of the industry. Our watch cases are somehow like raw conc
Linde Werdelin SpidoSpeed Chronograph Watch
I think that the perlage polish applied base dial will be a stunning design element on this new watch from Linde Werdelin. With a release date of around May 2011, the new SpidoSpeed is the next iteration of the SpidoLite watch concept, and the brand's first chronograph model. The relatively svelte case needed to be increased by 3mm in height to incorporate the mechanical chronograph movement. I actually like that - as the design of the case can accommodate a chunky look quite well. The watch is now 44mm wide by 15mm tall. The SpidoSpeed is in steel, not titanium. Will there be future models in titanium? Probably. What you see here is only the first "Series A" model of the watch. There will be 100 pieces of this version, and after that Linde Werdelin likely has a few tricks up their sleeve for other versions. You can see the complex make up of the case, and the nearly integrated chronograph pushers. Prone to now using interesting movements, inside the SpidoSpeed is a Concepto caliber 225
Came back to AP today
Fed up with what to me was a delicate scratch magnet I sold my 26320 10 months ago and consolidated my collection with 4 rolex. My wife is a big AP fan and I have always wanted a novelty however circumstances never allowed. I received a good trade offer a few weeks back and waited patiently whilst this went through the premature B1 water resistance test and got a BNIB GP strap fitted but today another grail hit my collection and I wanted to share with any potential buyers wondering how a 44mm watch fits on a 7 3/4 wrist.I'll be doing a short write up on my grails on the Rolex forum in the next few weeks but here is in my opinion the perfect AP ROO
Help with pricing???
Hello everyone! I am new to world of fine watches. I currently own a few different models of Tissot's and am looking to purchase my first Omega. I have been looking at Ben Bridge jewlers and am interested in the Mid size Aqua Terra. They are asking 2,900 for it. Is this an exceptable price? Thanks for any help
