Watches NEWS
Finally got it!!! AP 15202 has landed.
First of all thanks for all your help guys. The pictures, emails, texts, phone calls, and responses have been great and overwhelming. Esp big thanks to my boy Jrock that introduced me to this piece and really swayed me towards the Jumbo. And now, onto the pictures!!Got the package during a meeting so I was rushing through it trying to get to the unboxing! Finally sat down and started going to work on the package. And there is the box, too bad it wasn't a HUGE SE box but oh well, nice none the less.Wrapped up like a mummy... This is the first NIB AP I have ever bought and it had stickers all over the thing!!! Took me about 5 min alone to peel off all the stickers, nice that they put so much though into keeping the watch scratch free during transit. Maybe about 15 total stickers on the thing, covering EVERYTHING. Nice touch. And now to the wrist shot!! (I know the date was not set)Initial impressions - PERFECT size watch... at first I thought it might be a tad too small but it looks awes
Universal Geneve chronograph using Speedmaster bezel?
.hodinkee/blog/found-t...ax-chronographIn this article on hodinkee, they discuss a vintage 1960s Universal Geneve chronograph. What caught my eye in the article's pictures was the bezel, which to me looks exactly like the Speedmaster 'dot over 90' bezel from Cal 321 and transitional 861.Was there any sort of parts-sharing being done between Universal Geneve and Omega in the mid- to late-60s or do my eyes deceive me?
New PO's in Chicago
Stopped by the boutique store on Michigan Ave. They had one crono, black bezel and one regular PO black bezel in 45.5. I have pics on my phone and will try to post when I get back home to NC.
5227
Hi everyoneI was made very aware - generally watches aren't really the most sensible things to use as investments... But what I'm thinking now is retention vs depreciation - Would a calatrava like the new 5227 be considered more sensible option than some others? I was hoping (as its the only patek I like or can afford) that it would be a relatively safe purchase should I ever need to liquidate for residual valueNever having seen one second hand. And never having purchase a patek before - I'm looking for some views please from those who can talk from experiencePlease adviseMy other consideration was a white gold rolex Daytona. I know they're chalk and cheese. But theyre the same price and I'm attracted to both and so i need a way of making a decision.... I've noticed current WG Daytona's drop in value for about the 10 years to loose 40-50% .... Will a 5227 do that
Rolex Yacht Master 116655 Rose Gold
Anyone else find this piece incredible? I desperately want to add this to the collection but I will need some serious enabling to justify the rubber strap with the price tag it has. Am I being petty or do others feel the same? Would love to hear feedback from other Rolex enthusiasts.
