Adults Only: Perrelet’s Erotic Dial Limited Editions
The themes of Perrelet’s previous limited-edition Turbine watches have ranged from patriotism to auto racing to the Chinese Year of the Dragon; its latest are targeted to more, shall we say, prurient interests: the Turbine Erotic collection, which feature decidedly adult illustrations behind the spinning, dial-side rotors.So-called erotic watches which feature bawdy images on their dials have been around at least 200 years, and remain an obsession among some collectors. Perrelet’s venture into this niche focuses on a very specific genre called hentai, a racy style of Japanese manga aimed at adults. Each of the four dials features a different miniature hentai painting, executed primarily in black and white with just a touch of red. What gives these watches a sense of voyeurism is the design of the dial. As with all Turbine watches, the image on the dial is partially obscured behind the “turbine blades” of the rotor (as shown below) and becomes visible only whe
Davide Blei Rolex Collection Brings $3.7 Million
On Sunday March 22 in Milan, Patrizzi & Co. auctioneers brought the hammer down on the Davide Blei Rolex collection, selling 98% of the lots for a total of 2,736,400 euro or slightly more than $3.7 million. The sale result does not include a buyer’s premium, as Patrizzi & Co. does not charge a buyer’s premium. More than 200 people followed the auction, including more than 100 online. In a press release Patrizzi & Co. said “[I]t is comforting to know that despite a global economic crisis, fine horology remains, as it has throughout history, a strong, stable market, capable of inspiring great passion and excitement.”
Rolex Daytona Meteorite Dial Watch Available On James List
I am always torn about writing about Rolex watches - because frankly, they don't need the press. While I'd be happy wearing any number of Rolex watches (although I feel most of them are too small these days), there are a few interesting models that standout to me that don't get a lot of face time. In fact, many of my favorite Rolex watches are less than stellar sellers. These include two-tone models (Rolesor) and models like this Rolex Daytona with a meteorite dial.Personally, I love meteorite dials. I don't think that I collected rocks as a kid, but stuff from space did fascinate me. In this case, the "source" of the dial is actually more interesting to me than the look of it. Though I do admit, as far as stone dials go, acid washed meteorite is pretty nice. Plus, Rolex being Rolex, they are going to choose the nicest meteorite they can get their hands on. Rolex has a problem in this area though. There are so many "modified" Rolex watches out there, it is very hard to tell with rarer
Lebron James at my school?
At my school we have an app called Yeti where you can share images. Kids were posting their rolexes (2 subs and a sticks DJ) and this guy comes up with this. Is it a real AP? Is it like $20k if it's real?
Just Got it from the UK
