Aevig Valkyr Review
Typically, when a watch arrives, I know exactly what to expect. I open the USPS, FEDEX, UPS, etc… package open and find, as advertised on a website or press release, the watch I am to review or examine. Well, the Aevig Valkyr was a watch I had only seen in a few quick shots on instagram, but knowing the brand and liking what I saw, I was eager for them to arrive. Well, when I opened the box, I am pretty certain I let out an audible gasp of delight as the two watches inside were just so cool. They were what I expected and a lot more. It's not that they are perfect in every way, not at all. They just were so fun and different, with a look that was immediately appealing. I strapped on one and it clicked. The funky case design, with it's 70's inspired lines, the use of muted colors and the sporty dial just hit some spot I'm not even sure I knew I had. And I think it all just comes down to a sense of style. These just resonated with who I am and the things I like. But, we're not all lik
John Mayer On Watches: Why I Bought The Patek Philippe 5396G Limited Edition For Tiffany & Co.,
It's an interesting time for Patek Philippe from a collector's standpoint. The company has stopped production of some of its greatest complications (the 3970, 5970, 5070, 5004, etc.), they’ve raised their prices substantially (in what I believe to be an attempt to sideline the secondary market), and a new generation of Stern has taken over as president. I’ve been somewhat skeptical about the direction of the brand based on some of the latest design updates, but after cutting the seal on the new ref. 5396G for Tiffany & Co., I know that the brand still cares about collectors. A lot.In fact, I think this watch is a message to collectors everywhere that Patek Philippe will continue to create instant classics. And this 5396 limited edition is one of them. 2 OF 7 The 5396G is an annual calendar made in a limited edition of 100 pieces to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the opening of the Patek Philippe boutique inside the Fifth Avenue Tiffany &a

Planet Ocean rubber strap instalation tips...
For the sake of the forum I wanted to find out why so many are having problems installing their Omega rubber strap.O.K here is what I came up with. I tried installing the rubber strap with a new set of spring bars. It was a bear!!!! I see what some of you are having problems with. First of all you need the correct spring bars in the diameter 1.78mm. This is a double shoulder spring bar in size 22mm for the 45.5mm Planet ocean. Do not use a single shoulder spring bar. (See pic below) I want you to first test fit your spring bars without the strap. Try it and see how easy they fit in the holes of the lugs. The PO has very small holes drilled into the lugs. Some after market spring bars have a larger nipple end and it may not slip easily into the holes of the lugs. Either buy other spring bars or file the end diameter of the ends of each spring bars. Once you are sure they fit correctly, try installing them as seen in the pics below. I am using a spring bar tool with a small forked end. F
