Buying Watches In New York City: Cellini Jewelers
Welcome back to an watches-dealer original series, where we discuss important stores that sell watches all over the world. Each store we profile has an interesting story to tell about where they operate and who they sell to. Whether you buy watches from brick and mortar retailers or prefer to buy watches online, these are the stores that help shape our watch culture around the globe. There is a long list of stores to cover, but if there is a retail location in your favorite city that we simply can't miss, let us know in the comments below.Where to buy watches in New York City?New York City is something of a watch buying Mecca. The Big Apple has an almost endless number of stores and brand boutiques for your shopping pleasure. A prime example of the quality and choice offered in New York is Cellini Jewelers. They can be found in the landmark Waldorf-Astoria hotel at 301 Park Avenue and also at 509 Madison Avenue at 53rd Street. They have served the City and the world since 1977 carrying
For All Mankind - Some Questions
Just finished watching the excellent film documentary For All Mankind on DVD. I'd thoroughly recommend it for any space buffs with the added bonus of some cool Speedy wrist shots ;-)I have a couple of questions. Some of the astronauts appeared to have their Speedies on SS mesh bracelets. How did they swap them back to Velcro straps for EVA work during the flight? I have enough trouble swapping straps with a lug tool and screwdriver with the aid of gravity (or was bracelet swapping part of standard NASA training?!)?Also, why do the earth orbit EVA shots 15min or so in look like something out of a Ray Harryhausen movie? I'm a total Apollo anti-cynic, but I have to admit this footage looks a little ropey. Is it the film frame rate? One last question. What music would you have chosen to play on the way? My choice - Elton John 'Rocket Man' (cliche, I know)
Just want to say 'Hi'
Hi everyone I have just joined up the forum recently and posted a few times, but I thought I'd like to say hello to everyone properly.I originally seeked out TRF as I was looking into possibly getting a Rolex in the future, but since I have got my NOS Omega Dynamic something happened.......it's almost like a relationship lol. There is something intriguing and understating about Omega, the design, the history, I don't really know what it is exactly but there you are.So I ended up visiting mostly here at the Omega section of the TRF and I just ant to thank everyone for your helpfulness and friendliness, esp. Rommel (aka RW16610) who has been my Omega mentor Hope to learn more from everyone!
Polishing a Nautilus and warranty
One of the hardships with keeping a Nautilus in full SS bracelet is the amount of scratches it attracts! I'm annoyed enough that I want to get it polished but it's years before recommended service through Patek proper. The alternative is to get it polished through a quality outside service center like Govberg. The issue is, if they do polishing - including the bezel, which I assume requires taking apart the case, does this essentially destroy the warranty that's still on the watch?
It's 5:00 somewhere...
Cheers...
