Introducing The Breitling Chronoliner, A Modern Aviator With Vintage Nuances
Breitling has?been rekindling vintage-inspired pieces for a while now. Last month, we showed you the in-house Transocean 1915 Mono-pusher Chrono, and before that a 38 mm Transocean Chrono. But, let's not forget that Breitling's legacy as a tool watch applies as much in the air as it does on the sea. Its latest release, the Breitling Chronoliner, is an aviation themed watch that evokes images of that?bygone era. When Breitling says that it drew inspiration from vintage pieces?in designing this aviator, it's only natural that we focus on our favorites. If we put on our?vintage?goggles, we don't have to look too hard to notice piston pushers and a?black bezel on a?panda dial C and that means a Breitling Co-Pilot as far as vintage aviators are concerned. We covered one here?not too long ago. Granted, the registers are at 6, 9, and 12 instead of 3, 6, and 9 and the bezel is of the?24-hour variety?instead of 12, but maybe the Chronoliner's looks are inspired by a medley of older models. I am sick for wanting a Quartz AP?
I recognise that a Quartz AP Royal Oak is never going to be a collectors choice, but I don't have the negativity many have towards Quartz movements. I have plenty of Automatic watches and manual wind for that matter. My Piaget is a mid size quartz and I enjoy its lightweight and narrow profile, I don't have a huge wrist and don't like the trend to bigger watches. A slim line dress watch is the opposite of my Chronographs. Unlike many AP fans that love the really complex and modern large AP Oaks, my only interest is in a classic style Royal Oak with a nice waffle face and two tone 18K gold, either as an Automatic or Quartz.I know the rolex Oysterquarz have a reasonable following and popularity with many collectors wanting one in their Rolex collection, there does not seem to be the love for the old Quartz Royal Oak's, as a dress watch I really like the profile. Is there something I should consider If I ultimately convince my wife that I need watch number #4 in 2012!!!!!!!!!I WANT YOU TO
Something weird has happened...
I tried on a Grey Side of the Moon Omega over the weekend and was totally impressed by it. I am still a devoted Rolex fan, but the GSotM is absolutely gorgeous. Anyone else here find this watch a worthy addition if all your other watches are Rolex timepieces?
Planet Ocean Chrono in a ceramic
Does new the Planet Ocean Chrono large come with a ceramic bezel?
Rolex v. Omega
I went to an AD today with the bona fide intention of purchasing a Sea Dweller, but they are just too small and do not have enough heft. I had seen so many impressive photos that I thought I would automatically wander forever into Rolex land.I really thought the Sea Dweller would have a more substantial appearance. They are good looking and well built I suppose, but niether of these had a comparable feel to my Omega 300 Chrono Diver. If anything, the experience convinced me that a Planet Ocean would be a better choice for me. The Sea Dweller and Sub, just had a generic feel like most every other watch. Each to his own I suppose. I just expected to be a bit more impressed with the Rolex and thought that trying one on would forever convince me. It was a bit of a let down. I was curious as to whether anyone else thinks the sub and Sea Dweller need to go up a size for the sake of gravitas. Price really was not a consideration and I was curious as to whether anyone else felt the sa
