What You Should Know About Apple, iWatches, And Sapphire Crystal
Thomas Bogner's concept of an Apple watch uses a curved crystal surface, curved in 2 axes. source: dribbblewatches-dealerIs Apple planning to use sapphire crystal for the iWatch?? What about other devices such as the iPhone (that already uses some sapphire crystal parts)? We know Apple is working on a watch, but no one is quite clear on what it will look or be like. We?wrote about the iWatch almost a year ago predicting its release before there was even confirmed news about it. We've also seen iPod nanos dressed up as a watch, and we've seen quotes from Apple board member Bill Campbell saying "when you start to think about glasses or watches, they become as intimate as the cellphone was."We also hear Apple is experimenting with curved glass in reports from the New York Times and Bloomberg, chances are that they will be using sapphire crystals (screens) just like high-end timepieces do. The goal of course are durable, beautiful iWatches that don't break as easily as a dropped iPhone wil
Gavox Curtiss P-40 Review
Gavox is a young watch company (founded in 2011) based out of Belgium that recently released several very attractive quartz timepieces under the Curtiss P-40 name.? With rugged good looks and military heritage, the watches speak to a common sensibility in the watch world.? And at approximately $250, they're well within the budget of most.Curtiss P-40 Ref 350 CalendarMovement: Caliber VD75 from SeikoDimension: 40mm X 8mm X 46.7 lug to lugLug Width: 20mm lug widthWater resistance: 5 barCrystal: mineral crystal w/ anti-reflection coatingWarranty: Limited Warranty for a period of 2 yearsPrice: $230-250Curtiss P-40 Ref?338.1 Military TimeMovement: caliber VD77 from SeikoDimension: 40mm X 8mm X 46.7 lug to lugLug Width: 20mm lug widthWater resistance: 5 barCrystal: mineral crystal w/ anti-reflection coatingWarranty: Limited Warranty for a period of 2 yearsPrice: $240-255Gavox was founded by Michael Happ, engineer, pilot and grandson of one of the Flying Tigers pilots of WWII. Introducing The Bremont Wright Flyer, A Limited Edition Containing A Fragment Of The World's First Airplane
Bremont has created some pretty special limited editions in the past, including the Codebreaker (containing material from Bletchley Park) and the HMS Victory (with oak and copper from the eponymous warship). Today Bremont unveils what might be the most ambitious watch they've produced to day, the Bremont Wright Flyer. Not only does the watch contain (according to Bremont) the company's brand new proprietary movement, but it also contains an actual piece of muslin from the wing of the Wright Flyer, the world's very first airplane. Seriously.?Honestly, Bremont is the only watchmaker that could pull off something like this. As if launching its very first in-house movement wasn't enough, it has to put a piece of the world's first airplane in the watch for good measure. It's hard not to get excited about this piece, so let's dig in. 2 OF 18 via wikipedia.org The namesake aircraft, the Wright Flyer, made the world's first powered flight in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, in De
Used Speedy Reduced 3510.50 - what's a good deal?
First Post!I'm considering looking at a Speedy Reduced 3510.50 from an individual. No box/papers; he claims he bought it pre-owned from a jeweler in 2011 and it was checked out then. I'll have it checked myself before I pull the trigger, but what would be a fair price assuming the condition of the good (not mint--but that of a cared for daily wearer)? I realize it's hard to say without a good look at the watch; I'm really just looking for a ballpark. I appreciate it in advance, -JBC3
