Changing straps
Hi, quick question on the topic of changing straps, Is it important that I use loctite when performing a strap change?Do I need to heat up the screws so I can remove them easier? Any other opinions and comments on strap changes would be appreciated as I am about to undergo this procedure for the first time on my AP. Thanks
Royal Oak Polishing Question
Hey everybody. While my 15300 is off at the AP service center, I was thinking about their refinishing service. Along with my free repair they offered to do a refinishing of case and bracelet for around $200. I think I'm going to decline this option since it is in pretty good shape, but it got me thinking about it anyway. When AP does the refinish, will it take some of the awesome sharp edges off or is AP so good that it really will look like new. I have heard that you can only polish a royal oak 3-4 times, so is the difference visible after every polish? Interested to hear from others who have had this service done. Thanks!Justin
Speedmaster Crystal Replacement
Looking for my first Speedmaster, and my thinking is getting a 1978 145.022-78. (It's my birth year). However I have found one that looks to be in decent shape (for the age) but it has had the crystal replaced by Omega to a new Hesalite Crystal. To my limited knowledge, this seems to take away from the vintage nature of the piece, but then again... I am told it is very common for watches of this era to have the crystal replacement. Can anyone tell me whether this is the norm for vintage Speedmasters and/or what that does to the perceived value. I don't intend to resell, but I just want to make sure I'm not sabotaging the vintage aspect of my first Speedmaster
Anti-reflective coating
Hey, does anyone have an opinion about the ARC on the inside and outside of the new aquaterras? It seems like I heard or read somewhere that the ARC can scratch off the outside in a visible manner... I like being able to clean a sapphire crystal, dry it off and have it look perfect... Would this exterior coating become a disappointment?
