Introducing the Stowa Antea "Back to Bauhaus"
Until quite recently, Stowa was not a brand known for making waves. For much of its nearly 20-year history under the watchful eye of J?rg Schauer, Stowa has maintained a tightly curated catalogue of timepieces, among them the Flieger, Marine, Seatime, and Antea. The evolution of each watch has been an organic process, with small changes trickling out slowly over the years to include different case sizes, movements, and dial colors. Yet, few of these variations, including those released as limited editions, strayed far from the well established "look" of the brand. Then in 2013, Schauer, a designer as much as he is a watchmaker, sought to modernize the Stowa aesthetic, introducing the Flieger TO1 TESTAF and later the Flieger GMT. Muted and tactical, both watches looked more like something Sinn would put out and were unlike anything else produced by Stowa. That same year, Schauer also sought to modernize and unify the brand logo, announcing a redesign that spawned quite a bit of controver
Speedy Pro "Tintin" has arrived...
Hey all,Well, despite the lack of love for the Speedy Pro Racing dial known as the Tintin, I've been hooked on it since it was announced. I first saw it in London about a year ago but held off due to other recent buys. Well, the fire was stoked again recently...even more so when I found it was already out of production. When I started to re-research it, I found very little info likely due to the ugly reviews...including some on here. Well, the dial sung to me and I had a real hunch that it would play well on a NATO. I really dislike the Speedy Pro bracelet and feel it draws one's eyes away from this pretty, painted dial. I've had her on my wrist for 4 days straight since arrival!Look for her on fratellowatches this coming week as my new piece will be featured. Enjoy some pics...maybe they'll change your mind a little. :)MikeSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Moon Phase
What are the most popular moon phase Omegas and are they accurate? Do they actually work? I find these interesting.
Rolex 1976 Pepsi GMT Bracelet
I have a 1976 Pepsi GMT in stainless steel with an oyster bracelet. I have been told that this is incorrect. I have been told that the Jubilee is the one that is needed. Are there any members that can help me clarify the correct type, bracelet number and end link numbers so I can restore this watch to original condition. Thanks in advance!!
Rolex AD service quote - how old is vintage?
Hi All.Hoping you could help me out with a question about servicing. I have a 2004 GMT Master II Pepsi in pretty good shape. Went to an AD in the UK today as I would like to get it serviced, its never had one, and running fast. I was quite shocked by the basic cost of the service. She quoted me ?780. I queried this as I had done some research and thought the cost was ?505. She told me ?505 is the cost for watches less than 10 years old, and that anything over 10 years is considered vintage? and has a higher cost.I was wondering if its correct that >10 years is considered vintage, I had thought it would need to be older than that. And is the mark up for vintage really that high? Its about 50% more.I didnt send the watch as I wanted to double check this. Many thanks for any info.Jon
