Audio: Excerpts from WatchTime’s Exclusive Interview with Breguet’s Marc Hayek
WatchTime’s March-April 2014 issue, on sale March 18, features a cover story on Breguet, and its groundbreaking Classique Chronometrie 7727 watch, by editor-in-chief Joe Thompson. The story includes insights from Breguet president and CEO Marc A. Hayek, gleaned from an interview conducted at Breguet’s offices in Switzerland’s Valle de Joux. In this excerpt from the interview, Hayek discusses how the “no-layoffs” policy he implemented during the economic crisis of 2009 actually helped boost the sales of the Swiss luxury watch brand.
Omega Speedmaster Mark II Reissue Watch For 2014
In 1969 Omega introduced the Speedmaster Mark (Mk) II as an updated version of the outgoing Speedmaster. It happened to be in the same year that Omega also had a few of its older generation Speedmasters make their way to the moon in the NASA Apollo 11 mission, but that of course is another story. With a newly formed case that would become an iconic symbol of the brand as well as the era, the Omega Speedmaster Mark II will be re-introduced by Omega this year in 2014 with a modern movement but a design that is very true to the original. Those with a love of the more colorful Speedmasters will enjoy the Omega Speedmaster Mark II with a red/orange and gray dial that is an homage to the vintage ref. 145.014 Omega Speedmaster P

Looks like a few other German "pro" watches? Well that is because Laco is German. The Squad 1000 Meter joins the ranks of pieces from brands such as Sinn and Tutima, with elements from scores of other brands. While the Squad 1000 certainly doesn't score high on the originality scale, it is a great composition of known styles and features that people want and love. There are two versions of the Squad 1000. The standard Squad 1000 Meter Automatic in sandblasted matte steel, and the Squad 1000 Meter Black Automaticdone in PVD black. The case is 45mm wide with off-centered lefty crown located at 10 o'clock. The design of the case along with the dial reminds me a lot of the Fortis B-42 MarineMaster. Whether or not Laco used that Fortis as inspiration is unclear, but the similarities are uncanny. The dial is good looking and very e
