Watches NEWS
New Incoming: Jumbo Time
Fellow AP enthusiasts, thought i would share with you my latest acquisition. This came about somewhat unexpectedly but it has literally blown all previous preconceptions out of the water. This is a pre-boutique 15202 and i purchased this whilst also owning a 15300. My current tastes have always led me to newer models with chunkier bracelets but when this arrived there was only one winner and the 15300 was soon flipped. A light polish at AP to bring it back to life and this is the result. Quite frankly, it's superb and comfy as hell and is going nowhere.
Silver Snoopy has landed
A few Q&D's of the new Snoopy speedy.Omega was the first brand I bought when I could afford a nice watch. I then owned several of them before abandoning ship for the unknown diverse waters of this insane hobby of ours.A week or so ago I discovered the Snoopy and after making 20+ plus calls I sadly discovered that it was sold out and no one would even take a name in case somebody bailed. As luck would have it, one popped up on TZ and a deal was made and the watch is now on my wrist. Nothing like instant gratification :)I am pysched to be back in the Omega fold with a Speedy. A classic watch for sure. I also have a lifelong love of Peanuts and Snoopy. Love everything about this watch. The dial is a work of art and so is the back. And like my Deepsea, you don't notice the writing on the dial unless you really look. Even with my reading glasses on I can barely make out the 14 seconds quote.Enjoy!
Service rant
OK, not being a native speaker I am poor at rants How can it be fair that you have to pay regularly for overpriced servicing to a watch that was very expensive in the first place. Say, you buy a watch water proof to 300 meters, but if you don't change the 1$ rubber parts every 4 years, for like 200$ you can't trust taking a shower with it, and it's all YOUR fault It is a bit ironic, because I bought a high quality watch with some idea of it lasting for generations. Do I really own a watch or if I am an indentured servant to Omega? Am I the first one to get that thought?
Moon watch purchase comparison
I have looked at Omega's speedmaster Moon Watch for some time, I really like this watch and pretty much figured out all the models. Although I would like a sapphire sandwich; I have settled on the original hesalite model. Now the question is I can get a brand new Moon 3570.50 for around $3400 or so,, I also can get a 50th Anniv. moon ( the one with 1957 in red on dial) new in box for around $3500-=preowned. What I do not know is if these special edition/limited editions are worth owning or have less or more value than a 3570.50 I like the look of this special but usually do not like the others. My only concern is if I tired of it and decided to sell -would it hold a similar value or not or are they white elephants.Let me know thanks in advance.
