Tutima Begins Deliveries of Its Hommage Minute Repeater
In summer 2011, Germany-based Tutima, known chiefly for its modestly priced pilots’ watches, unveiled a watch-world first: the first minute repeater wristwatch whose entire mechanism was built entirely in the German watchmaking town of Glash��tte. As of the beginning of this year, the company announced, deliveries of the eagerly awaited timepiece have finally begun.Tutima, a company that traces its history back to the 1920s, spent three years developing the movement for the watch, Hommage Caliber 800, incorporating several elements distinctive to Glash��tte watchmaking, such as a three-quarter plate and engraved balance cock (here, with a G Clef to indicate the watch’s melodious chimes). Aquanaut second hand material?
Hello everyone at TRF! I wanted to post a quick question to all the Patek experts out here. I was just curious if anyone happens to know what material the second hand on the 5167 Aquanaut is made from? As you can see from the attached picture, it is beautifully bright white but has no luminescence to it at all. Could it be white gold that has been whitened for this effect? It almost looks like plastic, but surely Patek would not dream of using that material in a $20,000 timepiece! Any answers would be much appreciated!Thanks in advance!
