Ulysse Nardin Commemorates Columbus’s Santa Maria with Limited Edition
Ulysse Nardin’s origins as a maker of nautical clocks and marine chronometers are on display in many of the brand’s modern wristwatches, like its Marine collection of divers’ watches. The newest model from the Swiss brand’s Cloisonn collection of limited-edition timepieces, the Classico Limited Edition Santa Maria, continues the theme of sailing with its tribute to the flagship vessel of Christopher Columbus’s historic voyage to the Americas in 1492.The Santa Maria, the largest of Columbus’s trio of ships that made the trip across the Atlantic Ocean to the New World, is depicted in elegantly rendered cloisonn on the finely enamelled dial. The legendary ship, with its flag waving as if in an ocean wind, stands out from the greenish blue of the ocean waves and the dark blue of the sky. More than 5o hours of intricate work by artisans and more than 26 baking processes were needed to create each dial. The Classico Limited Edition Santa Maria is powered

Talking Watches: With William Massena
Say the name "William Massena" over on the now-20-year-old pages of the watch lovers' forum Timezone, and many will recoil in fear. William has been the long-time managing director of the mega-forum, and before that, was one if its earliest users and moderators – back when I, and many of our team members, were in grade school. William grew up around watches, spending his formative years in a Swiss boarding school, before entering the world of finance, only to be pulled back into watches. He is one of the few men in this industry that has seen many sides of watches – from journalism to retail, to consulting, to auctions. It was when he was chief operating officer of Antiquorum that I first met William – introduced by a mutual friend – and to say I was intimidated would be an understatement. This imposing, well-educated, bi-lingual true connoisseur had built quite a reputation for himself as the enforcer of Timezone – almost the true-life watch
Blemish on new Rolex Day-Date
Hello,I bought a new Rolex 118238 Day-Date on eBay from a known and trusted seller 10 days ago. Today I discovered two blemishes on the dial, one is a small hair stuck inside the paint on the word Swiss at 6 o'clock. The other blemish is on the minute track at 5 o'clock where there is a tiny glob of paint on the track marking it fatter than the rest.I contacted Rolex service center, and they said it would have to be send to them for repair, with a 3-4 month wait.At this point I would rather just return the watch, would other people on this thread do the same, or different?Thank you.
