Seiko Sportura Kinetic Diver Watch Winner Follow-Up
Winner of the Seiko Sportura Kinetic Diver watch shares his thoughts and some pictures of himself enjoying the watch. Thanks Jason and enjoy!Words from the winner on this Seiko:"There is a lot to love in this watch, considering the retail price of $595: sapphire crystal, ratcheting clasp on the bracelet, a blackened-steel bezel, solid end-link bracelet, and a set it and forget it kinetic movement. The fit and feel of the case, bezel and bracelet are what you would expect from Seiko - solid. The design is a big plus - not a Submariner or Seamaster clone, but a unique design. The watch is big - bigger than I usually wear on my 6.5" wrist (see the comparison shot with my Rolex GMTIIC); however, because of the downward angle of the lugs, I can still just barely pull it off without having the watch hang over the edges of my wrist.I had been looking for a nice, rugged, quartz diver to wear on weekends - something I didn't have to set every Saturday morning, and I think this Seiko fits the bill
Piaget Altiplano Skeleton Ultra-Thin Automatic Watch
For 2012 Piaget will release this very special watch that furthers their desire to be the thinnest around in a number or categories. Last year it was the Altiplano 43 Automatic that was the thinnest automatic watch with the thinnest automatic movement. This year (perhaps among other "record" things) Piaget will offer the thinnest skeletonized automatic watch around with this strikingly good looking Altiplano Skeleton Ultra-Thin timepiece. The Altiplano Skeleton Ultra-Thin is technically another "double record holder." That means it has the thinnest automatic skeletonized movement and the thinnest case for an automatic skeletonized watch. The Piaget in-house made Caliber 1200S is just 2.40mm thick while the entire case is just 5.34mm thick. This all makes for extremely wafer-like wrist wear.In a 38mm wide case the Piaget Altiplano Skeleton Ultra-Thin is yet another good-looking watch with black dauphine hands. The black & white gold look is very handsome. You see more of that for the
Interest Grows For The RSW Outland Watch: Pride Of Post Modernism
Near the time of its release, I talked about RSW Outland Watch, and mentioned how much I liked the use of disc displays rather than hands. It is a refreshing change, and functions in what I termed a "digilog" manner because it was part digital, part analog. The outer disc displays the hour, and moving inward you get the minute, and then seconds. Since then, I have had the opportunity to learn more details about the interesting RSW Outland, which deserves additional attention given to the watch. For one thing, the Outland will be available in more colors and materials than just the PVD black on black strap. In fact, there is a pink gold version available, and a matte steel version, along with various dial colors (black, gray, and gold). Further, the Outland can be fitted with inset diamonds. To be honest, I am not sure why a watch like this needs diamonds, but it seems to be on the haute list of things to do right now. So RSW probably feels inclined to do as such. It is not a problem, be
Orient Sparta Review
Ugh Here we go again. Sitting in front of me is a watch I really like. It's well made, nice looking, mechanical, a touch different but familiar nonetheless and more over, very affordable. Is it perfect? Nah, what watch is? Do I even want a perfect watch? If I found one wouldn't the hunt be over? It's not perfect at all, but it's great and its shortcomings are over ruled by its remarkable price. So, inevitably this is going to be another fairly positive review, sorry to those of you who think I'm too positive. I just love watches and the Orient Sparta, the subject of this review, is simply another great affordable watch. The Sparta is a hybrid of vintage military styles that come together to make something new. There are clear elements of field and pilot's styles that are mixed up with the addition of a non-lumed steel bezel, slightly modern case design and an oversized day window. What you have in the end is a surprisingly unique watch for one that closely plays off of well-known style
