Watch Insider: Herms Unveils its First Tourbillon Watch
Up until very recently, Herms was known more as a fashion brand than as a purveyor of haute horlogerie. However, its watchmaking subsidiary, La Montre Herms, has been challenging those assumptions as of late with many of its new watches and proprietary movements, and has now released its first tourbillon watch, called the Arceau Lift.In this article from my blog, Watch-Insider, I give you the details on this significant new timepiece and show you some photos I took at the watch’s unveiling at the Herms boutique in Paris.Herms is not a newcomer to watchmaking; one can find Herms-branded timepieces dating back as far as the 1930s. But today’s La Montre Herms, based in Switzerland, is taking its business more seriously than ever and is not interested in mass-producing watches just for the sake of multiplying the brand’s famous “H” logo. (Click here for WatchTime’s Q&A with La Montre Herms CEO Luc Perramond.)Recently, La Montre Herms bought a

Helium release valve question.
guys I just wonder at the working of the screw helium escape valve in Omega watches...when one has to go for immersion(spelling!) diving where this valve is used, which one of the following three options has to be taken:1). do you start the dive with the valve screwed out and keep it that way all during the diveor2). screw it out in the water when you have to resurface, half way in the diveor3). keep it screwed all during the dive and uncrew it out of water to let gas built up be released.thnx for the help
Need some advice...372 or 424?
Well, the big 40 is around the corner and I'd like to get a PAM to celebrate the occasion. I went into the Madison Ave boutique today to try on a few Panerai. I came away impressed by both the 372 and 424 Cali dial. What gorgeous pieces! In fact, too nice... can't really decide between the two.My first hurdle was making sure they didn't look ridiculous on my 6.5 wrist. My wrists are very flat and they both looked much better than expected. See pics below. My first inclination is toward the 424 Cali dial. Love the dial layout and the fact that it wears smaller than the 372 despite both being 47mm. However, I'm a sucker for plexi and the no-date dial on the 372 is so, so clean.I can only afford one, so no buy both comments!Although that seems to be the solution to my problem. Thoughts? Advice? Which would you go for?424 with the sweet Cali dial372 with the plexiSide by side...
Supreme and Rolex collaboration
Seems like a bad move for Rolex...good move for Supreme. I can honestly say...I would only buy this for a flip. I wouldn't even put it on the wrist. It would stay in box...and I'll make a quick profit. Of course, I don't know what Rolex is thinking, but I still don't like this idea. Then again, Rolex can see a lot further than I can (marketing wise).
