The Eagle has landed.....
Sorry for the incorrect NASA reference but just could not help it. The other day my AD was having a tent sale and I could not make it over there as I had previous obligations and he is 3 hours away. So I asked that he send some pictures of the good deals that he had to let me peruse. I had no intention of buying anything as I was convinced I was wanting a blue Pelagos next but had to see if anything was too good to pass up. How does it go???? Curiosity killed the cat. Well then I am the kitty. I spot this beauty buried in the middle of the picture amongst several Tudor and Rolex pieces along with a couple Nomos and Others. I have never had an Omega so I quickly educated myself and decided that this was too cool of a story and deal to pass up. I guess every collection needs a Speedy, right?? At least that is what I told my wife. So here she is. The new(er) re-release of the pre-moon speedy with an 1861 manual wind. I love the 39.5mm case size and the no crown guards. Got my AD to thro
1968 Speedmaster going into long term storage...
Since recently picking up a Rolex 1675 GMT the '68 Speedmaster is not seeing much wrist time anymore. I guess it's time to put it into long term storage. I'm going to seal her up in the an original NASA storage bag used to preserve a flown Apollo astronauts watch (who shall remain nameless) and then put it into the bag used to store the watch at the National Air and Space museum (NASM) for 35+ years until it went on display a few years ago.For any of you NASA Speedmaster fans, here is an image of how the Speedmasters were sealed and stored after they were returned by the astronauts and cleaned.
I blame Mike and his new 372 thread. Incoming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks again to Mike and his 372 thread and it reminded me how much I needed the 190 AGAIN! This itch took about 5 years to scratch and man... it feels sooooooooooooooooooooo good to finally scratch it! Few bumps along the way with a career change and after some level of stability, I am finally back with this baby. Man.. is it worth the wait! Legendary butter smooth winding is head on and the combination of the gold hands with the rad case is silky sleek to look at... what a beautiful piece. Thanks again to Yoel and Ken for making this happen! Great weekend to all our good friends here! Best, Fred/NJ
