Photo Report: Recapping Last Night's Event With HODINKEE And Manfredi Jewels In Greenwich, CT
Last night HODINKEE hosted a fantastic event with Manfredi Jewels at their beautiful boutique in Greenwich, CT. There was a great turn out of HODINKEE readers as well as local clients of Manfredi Jewels – with tons of watches to try on and the champagne flowing. 1 OF 22 Part of the reason Manfredi Jewels is so successful is that they continue to carry classic brands (like Breguet, Rolex, Vacheron Constantin, etc.), but also carry independent makers such as Ressence, F.P. Journe, and Laurent Ferrier – making the selection of watches interesting and fun. You may remember owner Roberto Chiappelloni and store manager Rob Weintraub from our visit last year, and from our event in conjunction with Tesla. Here are some of the best moments captured last night. 2 OF 22 3 OF 22 4 OF 22 5 OF 22 6 OF 227 OF 22 8 OF 229 OF 22 10 OF 22 11 OF 22 12 OF 22 13 OF 22 14 OF 22 15 OF 22 16 OF

A Polished Daytona 16520 - To buy or not to buy , that is the question
Hello all,. I still unhappily haven't aquired a Daytona 16520 since the prices have jumped this year. To think I turned down two opportunities to buy nice ones for $10k last year is sort of nauseating. Anyway, stupidity aside I cant afford a $20k + Daytona that is unpolished with chamfered lugs and forget box an papers. It's silly to me, but I still want one. So, I found one in realistically used condition that was definitely polished as the top of the lugs aren't fully brushed, it has all it's links, the bezel and case are ok but once again it's polished , not today death but enough to have a serious collector or a lot of people I speak with say Oh, it's polished. It's under $17k and I can do a payment plan since it's above my budget. Once again I ask the question but I'm buying to own it and keep it. Will I sell it one day, maybe who knows, a year, 5 years never. I'm not sure. That being said, is is really dumb to hope it will be desirable from an investment standpoint later on since
My AD got a Hulk and a Batman this morning.
Too bad I wasn’t first on the list. At least they are shipping. He has a James Cameron that is sitting there. May go get it in the AM.The best,NB
Winding Rolex
Hi Guys, I recently got a new Rolex. aD wound it for me while I was at the store. A month later it stopped after me not wearing it for a day. So I gave it like 40 turns and it was up and running again. I took it off and went to bed. The next day I woke up and I saw it has stopped again. Around 30 minutes after I took it off. I wind it up again and it did the same thing the next day. I took it back to the AD and it is now being sent back to the RSC to have them look at. AD told me I should never wind my watch ever even if it stops since many people break their watch by doing that. AD told me to just wear it for awhile and it will run without winding. Said I might have break the watch by over winding. Not sure if I buy that since I read on here there's a locking mechanism that prevents the watch from overwinding. Is it possible I am not giving the watch enough wind by not moving around enough while wearing it. Thanks !
