Visit To The Richard Mille Watch Manufacture
It may be a bold statement, but I like to think about the brand Richard Mille as both the jester and the rocket scientist within the fictional realm of haute horlogerie.?Since its launch?in 2001, and especially during the last couple of years, it has not only dreamt big time and time again, bringing down at least some of the old-fashioned walls which?older governors of fine watch making had built around themselves, but also had the know-how to back up those extremely bold ideas and realize them.Probably the first logical question that springs to mind upon a first encounter with the brand is the question of "why?" as in, why?would anyone build?their company?on the fundaments of admittedly?and consistently bold designs and ideas coupled with?luxury pricing? Time provided the answer: because it works. The first page in the success story of the luxury sports watch has arguably been written by the Royal Oak of Audemars Piguet, demonstrating the validity of this market segment. What Richard M
worn&wound 2013 Retrospective
Wow, 2013 is over and it’s been a fantastic year for worn&wound! We’ve more than tripled our readership, made various improvements to the site all around and, most importantly, acquired several new and extremely talented writers! We’ve kept true to our focus on news and reviews of affordable and well-designed wrist watches, while also expanding our coverage of watch culture as a whole, style and random curiosities that caught our eye.We also designed, manufactured and released several new (and great) American-made watch accessories, available in our store at shop.wornandwound. This is a big part of the w&w picture, and we have many cool new products planned for 2014, so keep an eye out.The articles selected for this retrospective only scrape the surface of all of the pieces published this year, but we think they give you a good taste of 2013. It’s always been our goal to highlight watches that may go overlooked to give them the exposure they deserve. We
Question on Omega Speedmaster Day Date
I've been wanting to get a chronograph for a while and I recently saw a blue faced Speedmaster Day Date. For any of you who know, does the 24 hour dial at 9:00 act as part of the timer or can it be independently set, for example as a second time zone? Also does anyone have a resource that gives more details about the Speedmasters? Thanks in advance.
What is Patek best at?
They are not best at finishing. They are not best at making the most complicated pieces. They are not best at reliability and QC.What can we objectively say they are best at?I would say they are one of the best at value retention and name recognition. They are best at enameling. They are best at making cases. No one does cases better than patek. So what else can you add to the Best and Not Best list?
Spotted at Sam's Club today
No idea price wise if this is a bargain or not. I spotted it at Sam's Club when we were out and about today.
