The Power Of Rolex: Meaning Of The Billion Dollar Brand
When you hear the Rolex name, several things probably come to mind. Expensive and prestigious are probably among them. In America, the idea that if you become successful you need to buy a Rolex is common place and readily accepted. When I meet people, I always take notice of the watches that they wear. Among such people are doctors for example. Not that I meet so many doctors, but I have recognized that almost all of them wear a Rolex. The funny thing however, is that the age of the Rolex seems to be commensurate with their age. Meaning, it looks like each of them bought the watch sometime after finishing medical school. This must mean, that some unspoken force communicated to new doctors that they had to buy a Rolex when they finished medical school. Why? In order to show their success of course. Out of all the watch brands sold, Rolex spends the most amount of money on advertising. Much more. Since the 1980s, Rolex has worked hard to engender the idea that you have to buy a Rolex, not

Newbie with questions prior to purchase - 5711/1A / 5167A
Hello Patek aficionados,I have gradually migrated from Rolex discussion to this one after seeing great pictures of 5711 and 5167 by Puffy, dddreess, kilyung, brady, TimeOnHand and many others on this forum. I'm thinking it is time for me to acquire my first Patek . I have small collection of Rolexes - DeepSea and GMT IIc. I'm considering trading in the DS for something smaller and more understated. The three pieces that made the short list - PP 5711/1A, PP 5167A and AP 15400. As a lot of people here I have job where the watch can be scratched by the desk or my computer - nothing extreme. On the weekend we do a lot of family activities like skiing, ice skating, bike riding, swimming and such. I'm looking for watch that could do it all with me without needing to baby it.I have asked my wife for her opinion on the styles and she likes the 5167 best with 15400 closely second. I'm leaning towards 5711 for its timeless design. It is going to be my watch so the ultimate decision is with me. T
Wearing Rolex to work in trades?
Any blue collar tradies out there wear their rolexes while working?I flip houses so I'm always working on different projects and general construction. I like the idea of wearing my 14060M or 16570 all the time. After all they are tool watches . However, a little more risky than desk diving.Anyone else wear their rolexes while working with their hands? Would love to know. Cheers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Pricing on a DateJust 41 126334
Hey guys,Was in Cancun couple weeks ago and got a price for a DJ 41, Blue Dial, Fluted Bezel, and Oyster band for $8200, and I regret not getting it when I had the chance, and now to find out SoCal dealers are pricing it in the high 8's or even no discount at all. (Retail $9,350)Do you guys have any recommendations what percentage I should be looking for off the watch, and any recommendations on where to go?Thanks again!
