Ball Engineer Hydrocarbon Magnate GMT Watch
As much as I love GMT complications, I have to say that the name for this one is just silly. "Ball Engineer Hydrocarbon Magnate GMT." Four proper names plus GMT suffix? That said, the watch itself is pretty nice looking. I'm not fond of the Rolex-style cyclops over the date, though some quite like them [Ed. note. You'll see some hands-on images I took with watch here. I believe that the magnifier crystal is actually reverse mounted (inside the crystal) so as not to stick out of the crystal]. The fixed bezel is less useful than a rotating one, but on the other hand it's filled with luminescent paint for a cool look in the dark. The textured and detailed dial has good balance and attains the not-too-busy look a good dress watch. The dark green GMT hand lurks in the visual background, behind mirror-polished hour and minute hands and the signature second hand with Ball logo counterpoise. Overall a good looking watch, with the bulked-up look Ball produces. The bracelet is a variant on the cla
Introducing: The Gr?nefeld 1941 Remontoire, Inspired By A Church Clock In The Gr?nefeld Family's Care For Two Generations
The Grönefeld Brothers hail from the town of Oldenzaal, in the Netherlands, close to the border with Germany; they're third-generation watchmakers who, after training and considerable professional experience in Switzerland, began making their own watches, under their own name, in 2008. Their first watch was a complicated minute repeater with tourbillon, but they're probably best known for their One Hertz wristwatch with deadbeat seconds, which was a big hit for the brothers in 2011. (HODINKEE covered the One Hertz when it was announced at Baselworld.) As alumni of Audemars Piguet Renaud et Papi, Tim and Bart have had exposure to some of the most complicated watches, and technically demanding projects, in modern horology, and their newest watch incorporates a pretty rarefied complication: the remontoire d'egalité. 1 OF 9 The remontoire d'egalité is, as you may have read in some of our previous coverage of the complication, one of h

5153 Officer's watch
Thinking of getting a 5153. I had a look at the WG version, beautiful black dial. Not sure about the WG. Will WG change colour, become yellow over the years? Also, WG looks like steel... Hmmm. Thoughts appreciated. Will a YG 5153 work with a black strap? It comes with a brown strap but i am thinking of changing it to a black strap. Does black go with the white dial in YG?
