Follow A. Lange & Sohne At SIHH In Real Time
Today I am at SIHH here in Geneva. But most of you are not. Too badAs part of luxury watch brands further embracing the Internet, they are welcoming modern times by live blogging at the event. Finally, the Internet is their friends. How far we have come in just a few years. In addition to other brands such as Jaeger-LeCoultre, my favorite German luxury watch brand A. Lange & Sohne (the grail watch for many) will live blogging from SIHH 2010. To be honest I am not 100% sure what this will entail, but it believe it means sharing what is going on including images and new releases with you all out there. What I do know is that A. Lange & Sohne people will be there live to answer your questions and help you with whatever you need. You'll probably need to be up late at night if you are in the US for this personal attention from their staff. Otherwise I am sure there will be good stuff up for you to check out. In addition to their live blogging at the event (at the address in the link
Bring a Loupe: An Early Look At The Christie's May 2016 Auction, Featuring Some Masterpieces Fro
As we at HODINKEE like to do, I am thrilled to give you an early look at some of the highlights from the May 2016 auction season – here with a focus on our friends at Christie's. We already know that cross-town rival Phillips has a special, stainless-steel chronographs sale planned for the weekend of May 14th in Geneva, but that doesn't mean Christie's isn't going down without a fight. In fact, based on what you'll see here, it's fair to say we are in for an absolutely incredible weekend of watch sales. Let's get down to it. The Earliest Patek Philippe 530 Oversized Chronograph In Steel, With A Sector Dial 1 OF 12 This 530 Steel is the earliest known example, dating back to 1938. Okay, we'll start with the most exciting watch to me. This thing is downright insanity, a true grail watch for me personally. What you're looking at is a reference 530 – the oversized Patek chronograph from the vintage era – consid
Bring a Loupe: Four Lots To Watch At The Bonhams New York Sale TODAY (Think Amagnetic Patek & Ov
As the 2015 auction calendar comes to its end, New York City takes center stage. While the much awaited Speedmaster auction takes place at at Christie's next week, there's also a more under-the-radar sale at Bonhams today – and this catalog may have been slightly overlooked, so there's a chance here for collectors to find great vintage watches without too much bidding competition. Let's take a look at four lots you should watch out for this afternoon, including a very interesting Omega Speedmaster with a bearish estimate. Patek Philippe Reference 3417 Amagnetic 1 OF 9 Quirky would probably be the best word to describe the Amagnetic from Patek Philippe. It combines the classical elegance of a dress watch with a characteristic (resistance to magnetic fields) of a tool watch, something absolutely unique in Patek's offering until the introduction of the Nautilus in the mid-1970s. First, the case is in stainless steel, a very rare metal for vin
Can a 26300 strap fit the 26320?
I was just wondering, given the straps and bracelets are both 11mm across, would a 26300 strap and plots fit the 26320?
Owning 5711 and 5712
I have a steel 5712 and I love it. I was offered a blue 5711 which I like a lot, but keeps me wondering if it makes any sense to own two quite similar Pateks. What do you think?
