In-Depth: Hands-On With The Henry Graves Jr. Patek Philippe Supercomplication
Today is a very big day for us Patek Philippe lovers C it is the day that this great Genevan company will unveil its celebratory timepieces for its 175th birthday. I am in Geneva to cover this at length when the curtain lifts later tonight, but before we get to that, I thought today was as good a day as any to show you a little something special. Since starting HODINKEE over six years ago, I've gotten to see some incredibly important, and rare, timepieces. Pieces like split-seconds chronographs from Rolex, an Hermes-signed Paul Newman Daytona, a unique chronometer grade Patek owned by a disgraced Texas attorney (and NOT by the guy from Fight Club, ever), and even a platinum 2499 owned by Eric Clapton. I've seen the first Grand Complication ever made by Patek Philippe, and more than a few mega-timepieces owned by the most important timepiece collector in history, New York banker Henry Graves Jr. But the one dream watch that I hadn't been able to touch in the metal was in fact the dreami
Hands-On: The A. Lange & S?hne Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon (Live Pics, Thoughts)
There’s a reason Ben – and the rest of the team at HODINKEE – dream of the Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon. I mean, it’s a Datograph Perpetual with an added tourbillon. A watch made “just because,” A. Lange & Söhne told a group of dumbfounded journalists during their presentation at SIHH 2015. But it’s a little more complex than that. 1 OF 7 The Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon, whose name stands proudly on the dial, combines a column-wheel chronograph with flyback function, a perpetual calendar with jumping displays, and a tourbillon, inside one of the most desirable watches of the 21st century: the Datograph. They called it “technically impressive,” which is possibly the greatest display of Saxon understatement we’ve ever come across. The first two complications sit elegantly on the dial side while the third hides on the other, under the 12 o’clock position, performing a one-minute rotation t
AP 15300 keep or sell?
I have an AP RO 15300 with BLU dial, year 2009 complete with box and papers. I am tempted to sell it to finance another big watch, but seeing its continuous increase in value I am not convinced anymore. Should I keep it? Thank you!
Speedmaster Decisions & Advice Please
Hi All -A Rolex guy trying to increase my Speedmaster knowledge! I am happily hunting for a Speedmaster. It will replace my recently sold and loved 16710 and be worn Mon thru Thu at the office. My 14060 Sub owns my wrist from Thur thru Sun. I am liking the idea of those 2 icons as the platform for my rotation. A Zenith Class Elite earns church and suit duty. I prefer to buy here or on TZ - but not much available now. I hear jmryshi is a trusted seller on the bay and below are 2 listings I am targeting at the approx $1800 range.Questions:Anything look wrong with the below listings?what is the difference between the 3570 and 3590?I have the flip sickness - which Speedmaster (of any) will be the easiest to resell?Should I consider the Broadarrow?A million thannks!!! 3570.50cgi.ebay/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT3590.50cgi.ebay/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT
