Omega in the world of watches
First of all, a few disclaimers:-I have limited knowledge of the Omega brand-I've never owned an Omega timepiece-I am familiar with all of the other brands to some extent (Rolex, PP, AP, JLC, etc.)Now, please take this with a grain of salt if you must, but after drooling over the Seamaster 300 (the vintage inspired one with a Master Co-Axial movement), I was literally shocked at the price tags that these beautiful watches are commanding. $7500 CAD for a starter model in stainless steel, up to $75,400 for the platinum version. Is it fair that they're charging more than what a new SS Sub is worth for this model? Is it fair that you can get a Rolex PM Sub for half the cost of that PT Omega Seamaster 300? And I mean fair simply in the sense that: Can they justify charging these prices? If so, how?I am curious to hear your responses. And I'm paying attention, because I can't shake the thought of owning one of those SS Seasmaster 300's, despite the price tag!!!
Vintage Seamaster help
A buddy of mine called asking for my opinion on this 1952 SS Seamaster w. a waffle dial. Watch looks fantastic based on the pictures, but my knowledge of Omega doesn't go back as far as the early 50s. Wondering if anyone on here can help me help him. Thanks, TRF friends. Online description: Omega SS Seamaster ref 2766-1 movement serial # 13.8 million circa 1952. 33.5 X 42mm case with wide bezel and heavy lugs, with original black waffle dial with gold applied arrowhead indexes and tapered gilt hands. Geneva trip - any recommendations
One of my wife's lifetime dreams has been to see Switzerland, so we're headed there in a few weeks. Very excited for her and excited to see it myself.Regarding Rolex, is there anything special to see in Geneva?Related question, any recommendations on a place to buy a nice watch box or travel case there? Finally, any chance of finding a BLNR at an AD there?
