New safari
Got the new model safari. Love it. Enjoy.
Just a fun watch!
I know that it's not a Rolex but I am sure that many of you will appreciate this vintage omega i picked up yesterday. Let me know what you think. Cheers!
5980 - photos and first impressions
As promised a couple of photos of my new 5980. I'd also like to share a few thoughts so far.Chronographs are my favourite complication, not because they are the most useful (I rarely need to time anything) but I enjoy them being active insofar as I can engage with the chronograph rather than being passive. The 5980 has been my grail watch since I first saw it, and was a watch I was aspiring to own a few years down the line. However when I read that it was being discontinued it was a case of now or never for a brand new one from an AD. Getting it now meant selling my SS Daytona, Seadweller and Sub LV - these were watches I did not think I would EVER sell so the 5980 has a lot to live up to. Fortunately I am happy to say it is meeting, if not surpassing my expectations. Some of my highlights from my brief ownership so far are as follows:I like my watches on bracelets, and I think the bracelet on the 5980 (and no doubt the 5711) is simply beautiful. I have heard it said that the bracelet
PAM recently stopping when sitting on a winder
Hi All, I have had my PAM 328 for just about 5 years now. So far it has kept time well and gotten wrist time of at least 1 day/week and I keep it on a Wolf modular 4.1 winder the rest of the time (I also have my other 6 watches in my collection on a similar winder). Recently, I haven't given the watch as much wrist time and have noticed it stopping when sitting on the winder (set at 900-1000 rpd bidirectionally). If I take it out and hand wind it and let it sit off of the winder, I typically get close to the 3 day power reserve but if I wind it up fully and then put on the winder, I am finding that it is stopping after about 5-6 days. Has anyone had an issue like this? Is it simply time for an overhaul? I know the obvious answer is to simply wear it more but I wanted to run it by the forum here to see if anyone had any thoughts on this. Cheers.
thinking my next watch may be a panerai but.....
hiI'm pretty interested in a pam 356 chrono....the daytona is just too small for me and have it be a chrono. i like the size of the omega speedy but to me, the bezel looks a bit cheesy (sorry for the rhyme)....and i love the crown guards on the panerai.....however, in as much as the references to the italian navy don't instil confidence with me, i am used to the reliability of rolex and i really have zero tolerance for a watch that needs maintenance.....i don't want the 'have to tinker with it' ferrarri type, but instead like the reliability of the mercedes or honda type -exclusive of quality issues....bottom line: am i setting myself up for issues with the pam 356 or other pams? should i look to iwc's ? thanks in advance...
