The Swatch Group/Omega - www.thewatchesworld.ch
(hope this isnt an old news...)saw this one the back page of the latest Omega Lifetime magazine and thought it'd be interesting.nothing on it atm...looks like The Swatch Group/Omega will be webcasting new models on 24th of March 2011 - opening day of Baselworld 2011 .thewatchesworld.ch/thought some people would be interested to know.
Grandpa`s Omega
I just picked it up from service. They`ve just changed it`s oil and cleaned it from the inside! It is still perfectly functional and amazingly accurate. And I like the way it looks,I just don`t know what to do with it`s dial.I think I`ll leave it the way it is,but it`s kind of shame, because this watch is in almost perfect overall shape.Maybe I`ll give it to some guys who are doing restauration bussiness very well.
Patek with a restoration dial - Are they still desirable?
While browsing around my local market, I came across a Patek Calatrava from the mid-late 1940s. Upon talking to the dealer, he indicated that patek replaced/restored the dial sometime around the 60s. I guess and extract from the archive would confirm that.Generally, I prefer all original, but I've never come across a Patek restored/replaced dial before. If it was anyone else doing the restoration I would be hesitant. It certainly isn't shined and new looking. Still has 50 years of age on it.Does an actual Patek restoration affect the value or desirability from collectors?
Purchase new 5726 or previously enjoyed?
I have an opportunity to pick up a 5726 Steel bracelet from an AD or used from a reputable dealer. The difference in buying new is about 6k. What would you do in this case? Buy new sealed or buy used?
My Bronzo and Cali both arrived for the new year wow...
well, both in ONE! Gold hands, bronzo case (slight patina already setting in) and green cali dial... what's not to love? What a great piece without having to sell my Honda Accord to fund for it!Happy new year and a healthy and happy 2014 to all here!Best,Fred/NJ
