AP Clearwater Service - questionable work
Hi guys,I purchased a RO 15450 back in May 2013. Last may, I sent the watch back to Clearwater for its 3rd year warranty checkup. This is where my troubles began. Almost immediately after receiving the watch back, I noticed that the date would not jump at midnight. It would instead move halfway and then complete the full transition at about 12:30.Annoyed, I let this be for a while and finally got to sending the watch back last month. I just received my watch back a couple days ago and noticed that the 2-o'clock screw on my bezel is now loose. Upon inspecting the watch further, I noticed that several screws on the caseback were VERY loose. Now I am questioning the work done by Clearwater and the waterproofness of my watch.Anyone else experience similar issues? What would you do?
Guidance on selling prices for these two Patek's - 5711A & 5127R
What price would you put on these two pieces with a view to selling?Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711A B&P's from 2012 bought originally in the UK in good condition? I wore it everyday, so shows signs of wear.AndPatek Philippe Calatrava 5127R box and archives, from 2006, not originally from the UK and fitted on a pin buckle.
Patek why would you..........
Make a luxury watch where the strap has to be cut without any instructions?????????????????I took the watch to a local watchmaker who told me he knew what to do.I don't know how despite all my care and attention this could have happened.Suffice to say, the strap was cut by the watchmaker way too short, and I don't know when a new strap will be available, when I will get it back. This is just a total disaster.Apart from that there were spring bar marks on the underside of the lug that looked like they came from the factory. And what's more the movement doesn't hack. What else could go wrong!!!Have a good weekend.
dont know if post is getting thru w/pics
Hello everyone- I am delighted to find such an informative forum!I have a dilemma, My husband bought a Rolex watch in 1988 for $8,000. The jewelry store where it was purchased provided an Insurance Appraisal which included a retail value of $15,500. When I went to a very reputable dealer yesterday, the gentleman told me that the appraisal makes no mention of the serial number and the model number had a typo 180388 s/b 18038. Plus upon closer inspection the serial number inside the watch had been scratched off and that I would be unable to sell it. I am absolutely sick over this. The original Jewelry store is still in business (after 35 years in the same town) Does anyone have an opinion on how I can approach this with them? Do you think that they will be interested in making this right? Thank you!
RSC recommends I replace Dial and Hands
Hi all,I sent my 16710 D-serial (2005) to Dallas RSC. I recently picked it up in a private sale with no known service history. RSC states in the quote under Watch Condition: Hands scratched and Dial spotted/scratched. They are recommending that these parts are replaced.1. How do hands scratch and dials become spotted and scratched if never opened?2. I know it is not considered a vintage watch today, but someday it will be considered a vintage. With all this chatter on TRF to leave the original hands and dial what are the pros and cons to having these parts replaced? It does not have Tritium on the hands or dial, and to my knowledge super luminova does not patina (correct me if I'm wrong). Thanks for all of your input.
