Customized Vacheron Constantin Quai de l'Ile Collection Makes Me Sigh With Despair At The Sheer Pointlessness Of Message Behind This Watch
Do you recall thinking how dumb it was to combine a toaster oven and a radio? Perhaps it could have some conceivable space saving use; but really, What is the point? To prove it can be done? If you haven't heard of concept, it stems from the idea of unnecessary convergence products. You see combinations of products like this all the time, and sometimes they make more sense than others. Other times however, the whole idea is so repugnant both visually and in execution, that it just makes you upset. Not upset at the idea itself, that is all fun and games, but combining X and Y would be cool! Rather, what is disturbing is the notion that a dedicated group of otherwise intelligent people sat down for months designing, engineering, and executing a monstrosity. Having said that, the following is my perception and opinion of the new Vacheron Constanin Quai de l'Ile collection, which follows this theme. It is important to state that for the most part, I really like Vacheron Constantin as a bran
AP Stolen in London
Dear AllMy friend just got his AP Ruben Barichello II in Titanum, Royal Oak Offshore robbed from him on 21st Nov 2017. He was on the streets in London when two men pinned him down and removed his watch. This watch is of great sentimental value as well. Would greatly appreciate it if you guys are able to pass it on as far as possible. Info is as follows:Case Number: F73206-644719-0911Numbered: 911/1000Thank you.
panerai service @ richemont q
So I wanted to restore the bezel to mirror finish on my Panerai, prior to sale. I dropped it off at Richemont (Sydney) service. The quote came back saying that since the amplitude was low they're going to do a full cleaning and service yada yada and light polishing.Alright so the fee for this complete service is $425.Sound reasonable or I should just sell as-is and let the new buyer do it.Or should I find a place that is willing to polish the bezel and re-assemble.Or should I ask Richemont to just do the polish and nothing else.BTW the watch has been stored since 2005 when it was new, maybe a few months wrist time total. I suppose if it is Low amplitude it is just oil evaporation.BTW my Patek which I bought new in 98, and used for years, was tested a few months ago because I thought it must need a service by now, was found to be perfect, and not in need of even re-lubrication. Hmm.

Fit and finish/Quality
I have been reading a lot of articles lately comparing high end watches but none seem to answer a question I have. Most lists put PP, AP and others at the top with Rolex coming in a few rungs lower. (some lists a lot lower) I understand complications and rarity and market and all of that, but comparing simply fit and finish how does Rolex stack up against the top dogs? I am talking really about cases, dials bracelets and so forth , the stuff you can see without removing parts
