Girard-Perregaux Traveller: The Evolution of the ww.tc Collection
The streamlining of Girard-Perregaux, which began last year with the introduction of the Hawk collection, continues with the debut of the new Traveller, an updated version of G-P’s ww.tc collection, at Baselworld 2013. The first two Traveller models are a chronograph with world-time function and a moon-phase model with large date. The new-look Traveller collection features sleeker lines and a softer, more ergonomic silhouette for the 44-mm-diameter cases; long lugs with graduated bevels that accentuate their convex curves; and an interplay of polished and satin-brushed finishes on the case. Also, both the movements’ rotors and the watches’ folding clasps echo the “arrow” shape of Girard-Perregaux’s iconic Three Gold Bridges. The Traveller Moon Phases and Large Date has a 30-part steel case and is powered by Girard-Perregaux’s manufacture automatic caliber GP03300, which has 35 jewels and a 46-hour power reserve. The case has a sapphire viewing wi
Panerai Radiomir Tourbillon GMT Ceramica 48mm Lo Scientziato Watch
Easily my favorite new Panerai of SIHH 2010 is an unexpected model. The brand that made it a point to "hide" the tourbillon complication on their first tourbillon watch has now made an about face. This is the first skeletonized Panerai watch that I know of, and does not let down. It is actually the same movement from their normal tourbillon watch but skeletonized. This is in contrast to what some makers do by making a watch movement specially designed to be skeletonized. Good that the watch movement leneded itself nicel to the "open" treatment. The watch is really stunning and exactly what you would expect from a Panerai watch if it was skeletonized.? Called the Radiomir Tourbillon GMT Ceramica 48mm Lo Scientziato PAM348 (PAM 348), this piece is truly unique in the brand's current watch line. Most of the other new models of 2010 are minor variations on existing models to differ broaden an established brand feel, but retain its strict identity. The 48mm wide case is in a dark brownsih co
SeaWolf: Cobra yellow or Volcano Black -- your thoughts?
Even since I sold my SteelFish, I have been lurking at the SeaWolf, however, I cannot decide whether to get the Cobra yellow version or the Volcano black (batons). I love the look of both watches, even though they do give out different signals.I am worried that the Cobra yellow version will be too colorful to wear at e.g. work (office, research), but on the other side I am worried that the Volcano black version will be too conservative (dull/boring). Also it should be mentioned that I have never had any colorful watch (the closest is a white/silver faced SteelFish), and in my current 'collection' I have a Panerai 305 and a Planet ocean - both have black dials. What are your experiences with the two versions of the amazing SeaWolf? Pros and cons? Thanks
Gots me a chronograph
So after a couple of months of searching i found a Dynamic chronograph. The full set: Box, papers and warranty/dealer booklets. This fits in with my collection nicely i feel (you can find my collection in the Rolex Gallery). The military feel and overall size of the watch is great! Here are some images:
The wait begins until October, my thoughts
I'm thinking come October we'll see a 5270P with black dial. The platinum and rose gold 5131 world time (with swapped continents). And a new 5170 (possibly platinum). I'm also thinking we'll see an update to the 5074 (maybe with the 5170 case). Lastly..I'm thinking we'll see a new aquanaut (maybe without arabic numerals...nah probably just rose gold). My thoughts, any insiders wanna chime in??
