Hydromechanical Horology: Inside the New HYT H1
One of the most talked-about timepieces of the 2012 Baselworld watch fair was the HYT H1, an unusual-looking watch that indicates the time by means of two liquids one green, one clear that flow through a tiny tube along a peripheral hours scale. WatchTime technical editor Mike Disher explores the technology behind the watch and its movement, and we provide wallpaper images, prices, and an informative video. Water clocks were the first complicated systems for measuring time. A millennium after they were invented, Confucius said that time flows away like the water in a river. The metaphor comparing flowing water to passing time is deeply ingrained in us. Lucien Vouillamoz recognized this, and in 2002 he proposed bringing the water clock into the 21st century and putting it on your wrist. Many ideas are more easily said than done, and this proved to be one of them.Over the next several years, the concept evolved into a system in which a small, flexible reservoir, or bellows, would be
Now Make Payments Using Your Wrist Watch
Good news everyone! You can now make payments with your watch, or that is to say, a watch. The LAKS Watch2pay combines a very simple quartz watch with the Mastercard Paypass contact-less payment system to allow you to pay up by placing your watch in close proximity to a vendor's Paypass terminal. Only catch is that the watch looks like this. The LAKS Watch2pay is a 42.7 x 15.5 mm watch featuring an ABS (polymer plastic) case and a silicone strap. The Watch2pay sports an acrylic crystal and is powered by a Seiko-sourced quartz movement with date. Available in a wide range of colors, the Watch2pay is available to UK residents for 99. From a watch nerd standpoint, there isn't much to get excited about as the Watch2pay is essentially just a platform for a small Mastercard Paypass chip that slots into the back of the watch like a?SIM card. We consider this timepiece a good execution of a proof of concept.Mastercard Paypass uses a technology called EMV which is the result of a collaboration
Sinn EZM4 Achilles Watch For The Medical Professional Or Doctor
When I didn't include doctors in a list of professionals that tend to be watch lovers I got a bit of slack. In response, I will discuss a watch that will appeal to watch loving doctors as it is especially made for them. While there are a good deal of nice and fancy watches out there that a doctor can adorn on their rounds, here is a more tool-like approach to wrist wear. You'll first have to understand that Sinn EZM watches represent a line of hardcore durable and functional watches. Made for extreme conditions by extreme professionals, these watches represent a pinnacle of the ruggedness a mechanical watch can present. The Sinn EZM4 "Achilles" was designed for doctors, paramedics, and firefighters who would need a well performing watch in conditions that might otherwise destroy or inhibit the function of "other watches." Even if you are a doctor that works in a relatively excitement-free zone, you can still communicate to your patients that you are ready for front-line medic duty shoul

Yellow & Black... Another BEE? Not quite...
They are rarer! Tried on these two babies yesterday. They are sweet The details are really intriguing.Jalan Bukit Bintang (JBB), also nicknamed KillBill due to its yellow/black theme, is a commemorative model created for the AP boutique located at Jalan Bukit Bintang (Star Hill Street in English) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The blackened hex screws on the bezel, bright yellow numerals and hands as well as the stock yellow strap with black stitch really stand out!And the End of Day... don't think I need to further elaborate its rareness and collectibility. Scrutinizing it while holding it in my hand was an amazing experience.Personally, I find it interesting that these 2 watches share the same yellow & black color scheme on the main dial and hands, while interchange the similar colors on the strap & stitch, as well as on the bezel and hex screws. AP has been able to use just yellow and black very effectively to create some amazing ROO models!Enjoy the pics!
