How important is the new 5 year warranty to you?
I thought this might be an interesting topic since AP recently started the new 5 year warranty. Since AP service costs so much and their movements seem to be a little less reliable than say a rolex imho I think the 5 year warranty adds a significant value to the watch. I don't mean to say that Rolex is a better movement but just that it is more simplified and requires fixing less often from my experience. Say you were looking at two AP watches to buy. One is from 2016 and one is from 2017 and both are LNIB. the 2016 watch only has 2 years left on the warranty while they 2017 watch has a full 5 years. What is 3 extra years warranty on an AP worth to you in terms of $$$? To me it is EASILY worth $1000. Do you agree?
I am sick for wanting a Quartz AP?
I recognise that a Quartz AP Royal Oak is never going to be a collectors choice, but I don't have the negativity many have towards Quartz movements. I have plenty of Automatic watches and manual wind for that matter. My Piaget is a mid size quartz and I enjoy its lightweight and narrow profile, I don't have a huge wrist and don't like the trend to bigger watches. A slim line dress watch is the opposite of my Chronographs. Unlike many AP fans that love the really complex and modern large AP Oaks, my only interest is in a classic style Royal Oak with a nice waffle face and two tone 18K gold, either as an Automatic or Quartz.I know the rolex Oysterquarz have a reasonable following and popularity with many collectors wanting one in their Rolex collection, there does not seem to be the love for the old Quartz Royal Oak's, as a dress watch I really like the profile. Is there something I should consider If I ultimately convince my wife that I need watch number #4 in 2012!!!!!!!!!I WANT YOU TO
5205r - black or white?
Patek Fans,I have twice within a week gone to Tiffanys in NYC to arm test the 5205 models. They have all four models (rose and white gold). No question for me it will be one of the rose gold models. Both times I have gone in with the black as a clear favorite. It is simply stunning - but the white also pops much more than I expected. Both times I have left with the black as a 51-49% marginal favorite. This will be a very close call. Which one would you pick? Thanks for your input.
Which patek ???
Hi all, after 15 years of rolex I've now decided to go the patek route, im not 100% clued up on patek, i would appreciate some advice on models and metals. One sports model and one dress watch.
