Found: General Patton's Five Minute Repeating Split Second Chronograph Pocket Watch (Live Photos
We see a lot of watches at HODINKEE – complicated, simple, new, and vintage. Every once in a while a watch comes across our desks that makes us stop and think about history and time. Recently, we had the pleasure of seeing a unique pocket watch from the early 20th century. This gold Tiffany & Co. watch features a five minute repeating split second chronograph movement made by Patek Philippe. The engraving on the cuvette reads, "Lieut. George S. Patton U.S.A., from his Father and Mother, June 11 1909," confirming that this is General George S. Patton's pocket watch. 1 OF 8 General George S. Patton 2 OF 8 General Patton was a U.S. Army general, who commanded forces across the Mediterranean and European theaters in World War II. He is widely regarded as one of the most successful U.S. field commanders in history, and was well known for his bravado and determination. Trade ROO Elephant for New Style ROC?
I'm currently an AP ROO Elephant owner, which I absolutely love. However, like all watch sickos afflicted with the sickness, I have developed eyes for another. I'm considering trading up to a new style ROC (black dial, silver sub dials). I've been drawn to the style of the ROC and I think I'm ready for a bracelet again. I also have a small wrist (6-ish) and moving from a 42mm to a thinner 41mm will be an easier wear on my wrist.I'm quite tortured by this decision as I can't quite seem to pull the trigger. The Elephant has held its value incredibly well since I acquired it a year ago and I'm a bit concerned with the ROC doing the same as I like variety in my collection and am regularly flipping every 1 - 2 years or so.Want to get some feedback from the community. Am I crazy? Any and all ROC pics from current owners would be wonderful! Thanks in advance for your help.
Incoming! 3573.50.00
The wife purchased a gently used 3573.50.00 for valentines day. Looks to be arriving tomorrow! This is my first Omega, and I'm quite excited! Pics to come shortly.
Patek Accuracy
SO I am happy to say that since acquiring my 5146R on the 8th the watch has only lost 4 seconds after continued use. (since the movement is not hack-able i noted where the seconds were in correlation with second 0 on time.is when i first set it. Out of my collection so far this seems most accurate with only my AP (at -1 per day) and my UN at +1 per day on average getting close to those results. All my Rolex are at +2 or more per day. The Quality is inherent it seems. And just for fun here is my pic at dinner last night: (also shared in WRW today so sorry for double pic post) pp_sushi.jpg
Where's a good forum to learn about Patek watches?
I love my Rolex watches but I also want to research more information on Patek Phillipe . Can forum members recommend good forums that I can visit?
