RG44 Finally Back From the SPA!!!
My RG44 finally came back from the APSC today. I felt so empty without it. It took longer than I thought it would. 8 weeks to be exact. However, it came back looking brand new! They also sent me this watch case. I thought I read somewhere that they stopped doing that, but was pleasantly surprised to get it. So excited to have it back on the wrist.
New arrival: Omega SMP (blue ceramic)
In well lid conditions the blue color is really deep and noticeable. Turn off the lights and the colors, the bezel especially, will turn into different shades of grey in a very elegant way. The new non-wave dial gives the watch a bit more dressy look and feel.
PO 8500 Pins and screws
Instead of the pins that were pushed out from one side to the other, Omega updated the new 8500 PO with this pin system. There are little screws covering the new pins. and these pins slide right out easily. No more pushing. The screws keep the pins in place - the pins keep the link in. No more messing with a pin pusher. Very easy. Here are the screws and pins and a shot of the screwed in link.Rob
Considering entry level Rolex as work beater
I have a dirty physical job and currently wear a nondescript plastic quartz watch while at work as part of my regular three watch rotation - when I get home I swap for a steel AP, and I use a Fifty Fathoms for outdoor activities, fishing, hiking, etc. Before long I would like to upgrade my work piece and Rolex is at the top of my list, however it would need to have a reasonably bulletproof shock and vibration resistant movement. I absolutely love the Milgauss but the lack of a date window is a deal breaker for me. I like the modern Air King, but again it doesn't have a date function. I guess that leaves the Explorer II but for some reason it just doesn't speak to me. Are there any choices I'm overlooking?
Now it's one month left
to the Baselworld so I post a teaser from the last year. This year we have some exciting meetings at look forward to.Click here for a teaser
