Christophe Claret Dual Tow NightEagle Watch
I am like the watch paparazzi sometimes. Look what I saw being worn on the wrist of Christophe Claret, the very man who created this watch, and the name on the dial. How cool is that. Master watch maker Christophe Claret waited until last year to put his name on a watch with the Dual Tow, an incredibly impressive luxury watch that I discussed here. The vast details that make this watch interesting I attempted to cover there. There is no point in my spending an hour discussing the complex features and technical merits of the Dual Tow. The watch is a monopusher chronograph with a complex planetary gear system (that you can see), a chime that goes along with pushing the button (using a hammer and gong), a tourbillon, and the time read on rubber belts. All in an amazing watch case fit for a king - and with the price that these custom made limited edition pieces go for, pretty much only fit for a king. The standard Dual Tow watches start via customization on a special website where you choo
Maratac Mid Sized Pilot: Hands-On
Right around the time that Blake reviewed the Maratac Pilot, County Comm quietly released a second, smaller model. Dubbed the Maratac Mid Sized Pilot this 39mm version is the same in almost every way, it's just smaller. It has the same Miyota 8245 automatic movement with small seconds, the same domed sapphire crystal, the same dial design and the same cool-little onion crown tucked away at about 4 o'clock.?Ultimately, the qualities and aesthetic of the original Maratac Pilot have been successfully translated to the smaller sized body. In fact, since the Mid has a smaller diameter, but the same thickness, the overall stout build had an almost sportier and more aggressive look than the large sized.Case: Brushed stainless steelMovement: Miyota 8245 21 jewel automatic movementLuminous: Super Luminova C3Lens: Domed sapphire glassCase Back: Screw-downStrap: Maratac Brand Mil-series nylonWater Res.: 100 MDimensions: 39 mmThickness: 12.5 mmLug Width: 20 mmCrown: Screw down oversized onionWarra
I love this watch
I have been wearing the ceramic diver 24/7 for about 10 days now, and it's even better than I expected, never had any ceramic piece before, the only ceramic I had was on bezels, Daytona, GMT and subs, 4 Rolex in all, and that's the most I've had.The material itself is really cool, smooth as baby skin if you drive your finger in the way of the vertical lines, but if you go against them you feel the lines. The weight is very reasonable, around 140 gr according to my kitchen scale, which makes it quite light for the size of it and gives great comfort, honestly I find it almost as comfy as my 5712, but just in a bigger watch.I may have to get the XS strap as my problem is that when I wear it the last hole is too tight, I like to wear 'em tight but it's a little too much, and if I put it in the second hole it's a little too loose, in fact the watch stays in place in the middle of the wrist because of the semi rigid rubber strap, but I like to feel the watch embracing my wrist, so even if it'
