Watches NEWS
First and only...but hopefully not last
Tried on many and loved them all for different reasons. But in the end, this one called to me above all the others and in my eye, has that balanced versatility that I look for in all watches. Thanks to everyone on this forum for the enabling pics, and thoughtful reviews that pushed me towards my first AP!
AP diver strap questions
hi there:does anyone know what are the exact for AP regular diver strap and shorten diver strap?the reason why i'm asking is because the regular if i buckle at 3 hole is too loose but if i buckle it at 2 hole then is too tight for my wrist. i've 7 wrist.i'm not sure if the shorten Diver strap would be a great fit for me?please let me if you've similar experience.thank you so muchAlex
Speedmaster Questions
I tried on a Speedmaster Professional at a local AD today. Wow, what a great watch. I loved checking it out after having seen them on the 'net so much. I tried on the model with sapphire crystal, display back and leather strap -- I believe that is the 3873.50.31. I really liked it. Here are a few questions for the speedmaster aficianados out there:1. What do you think of the display back? I'm drawn to it because it's an extra feature and the decorated movement looks cool. But, I've had display backs before and I rarely take a watch off to actually look at the movement. I wonder if it is worth the money to have the display back, especially considering the differences from the more historically accurate speedmaster pro -- i.e., sapphire v. hesalite and 861 v. 1861 movement. I read that the 1861 swapped out some stronger plastic parts for aesthetic reasons. I think the hesalite and 861 are better, but that display back is cool.2. Is $3900 less 10% a good price from an AD. See
Trading / Flipping - Is it worth it?
A bit of a general question here.I have a few watches that I don't really wear and am looking to get rid of them while buying something new. I have never sold any of my watches before and I was wondering what sort of percentage of retail is to be expected when trading a watch, I realise there are multiple factors such as desirability etc. As an example lets assume I wanted to trade a Datejust that would retail for around $4,000 and purchase a newer Datejust that would retail for around $7,000. What kind return should I expect on the watch to be sold?
116719BLRO and...
So with the apparent discontinuation of the white gold BLRO, how do you think the future value of this piece will play out? Some say the piece didn't sell well but there are now very desirable pieces that did not sell well and the production run for the BLRO was short compared with other modern pieces. On the flipside, steel professional pieces have historically been more collectible than PM and white gold resale values have been weak. Looking past the BLRO and perhaps to Basel in March, I find it hard to believe that Rolex would introduce another pepsi GMT in steel as this would alienate many BLRO buyers who paid much more for that piece in white gold because it was not available in steel. Seems like a bad marketing strategy for a conservative iconic brand. What seems more likely to me is a coke bezel white gold piece at Basel with a similar production run time as the BLRO with a new GMT with modified case and movement to follow after the two hommage to the past pieces have compl
