Pre-SIHH: Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomtre Quantime Lunaire 40.5
Next month at SIHH Jaeger-LeCoultre will introduce the new Duomtre Quantime Lunaire 40.5 – a slightly smaller version of the original 42.5mm watch that debuted in 2010. The new model’s case measures 13.07 mm thick and is 18k pink gold. Production is not limited.Jaeger-LeCoultre’s goal with the Duomtre series is to develop complicated watches that keep time with great accuracy. The goal is achieved by means of the Caliber 381’s “dual-wing” design which features two independent power supplies: one regulated by the escapement and balance, and the other for the time, date and age of the moon displays. This arrangement takes the complications out of the power loop, so to speak, allowing a smooth flow of energy to the escapement. As an added horological bonus, this piece incorporates a jumping foudroyante seconds hand showing 1/6th of a second incrementsplete technical specifications appear below the image.Technical SpecificationsMovement? Introducing the Portsea by Melbourne Watch Co.
When last we looked at Melbourne Watch Co., I was pleasantly impressed by their first watch, the Flinders. It was well executed, refined, had a few surprising details and, most importantly, was enjoyable to wear. Beyond all else, it made me make a mental note that Melbourne Watch Co had some design chops, some clever ideas and clearly was a brand to watch. Today, we're excited to talk about their next watch, the Portsea, which is currently kicking ass over on Kickstarter, having quickly blown through the initial goal and one stretch goal.It seems as though Marine Chronometer inspired watches are making a bit of a comeback. Sure, several brands have seemingly always offered classic interpretations, but we've seen a handful recently release ones, both affordable and not, that take the look, restyle it, making watches that are new designs. The Portsea is one of these watches, and to date is the most unique and perhaps the best looking. Named after a seaside locale on the Mornington Penins
Watch Shopping In Japan: Three F.P.Journe Boutique Exclusives In Tokyo, Including A Tourbillon Souverain With Jade Dial
I'm generally quick to answer when people ask me to name my favorite modern watch brands; without hesitation, the list includes F.P.Journe. This is not to say that I'm a fan of everything the brand produces, but I admire the way the manufacture applies a certainly polarizing and idiosyncratic design language consistently to every model in its range, from the most exclusive models to its entry-level pieces.More than one collector I have met has described F.P.Journe watches as "poetic" in both design and engineering, including a particularly memorable collector who, over glasses of rosé in the courtyard of the 14th-century Swiss château he of course redesigned himself, waxed lyrically about the peerless way the brand balances "technology and poetry" in its designs. (Bear in mind that this was during an event sponsored by another watch manufacture, but this was of no concern to him considering the elegant Resonance he sported on his wrist.)So, need
Service Cost
Hello Everyone,Quick question, my ROO has some filament missing in the hour/minute hands. Any question on how much a service (w/polish and cleaned up) would cost? Thanks again!
Which will show scratches easier. A PP Vs an AP?
Thinking of the Nautilus line vs the Royal Oak, and I just thought I would ask, since a lot of our members own or have owned both.Honestly just curious on which holds up better with scratches.Logic tells me that the brushed design on both should mean they would pretty much be the same with this matter.Do you find that one of the two holds up better, or perhaps shows the scratches less obviously? This is not my deciding factor for purchasing, just in case you were wondering.Thank in advance all!
